I picked up this body and neck from Gil. I am excited to get it put together. Here are pictures he took. (I love the German carve and the back plate to access electronics easier.)

Agreed on both counts. Saw them and immediately thought "Damn, that's going to be an amazing project....for someone else I hope...". Ha! Still have about 6 guitars I've been "meaning to" get onto my workbench for various reasons.

Looking forward to seeing where this goes!

Not sure if Mastery's MV vibrato (their own custom vibrato plate) covers the entire standard routing, but if it does, I think the shape will compliment the carve quite nicely. Their site is kind of ambiguous, so not sure what about it doesn't fit other than obviously the screw pattern. Plus, you don't have the mounting screws pre-drilled just yet so.....

I don't know how the sort of upside down mastery fits either. Would be interesting to know.

I decided to do something new with this guitar. Pretty much all of my past projects have either Fender names or elements. When I started doing logos for people and headstock art, I came up with a company name so I could do them legit. I used Eleventh Division. I owned the domain already and I thought it sounded cool. I made a simple logo that works well, but it got me thinking about headstocks. My logo wouldn't work well and I was trying to figure out how to get it to fit on a headstock. This is what I came up with.

I like fancy script, but the name Eleventh Division was kind of long so I decided to put Division under it and use a plain font for contrast. I think it looks pretty cool. I made my logo round so it would work on a headstock better.

I also took my logo and made it sized for a neck plate. I am having one made for this project. I figure when I do a custom project for myself, I will use my Eleventh Division logos from now on. (That way it doesn't look like I am trying to make it look like a Fender or whatever.)

I thought about giving guitars model names, but for now, I am going to stick with Gibson's example and just put the name and logo only. If I design my own custom body shapes, I will name them, but for parts projects like this, I will just use my own name. I was kind of inspired by Copland Guitars in this route because that is what he does. (And I made his logo. )

What are your all thoughts?

Pretty much all my parts except the nut are here. Can't wait for the neck and body to arrive.

didn't go with locking trem unit?
and is that a circuit board i see in one of the bags? putting active tone controls?

I never use the tremolo lock so I didn't really go after a locking tremolo.

Good eye on that bag. It is actually one of these.

Neck and body came. I did some sanding on the body to get some of the raised grain down and put a coat of tung oil on the top and sides.

Dude this is awesome! German carves look great on larger bodied guitars. They make them look less bulky, but still substantial. Bravo!
