Maggie, you need a Juno of some sort. You really do! Its my favourite synth I own. Polyphony is a beautiful thing!Maggieo wrote:StevenO wrote:I've been having fun playing LCD Soundsystem's American Dream on my Juno. Sounds so good!
Maybe I'll record a little clip later, if I have time.

They're shockingly close, but they make you want the real thing.
I owned the JX-03 for a bit and I liked it a lot but for a little over twice the price I got a Juno 106 and it doesn't feel like a toy.

For sure. They did a great job of modelling the synths. They're I think 4 voice rather than 8, but meh!

Well, that sucks. I've got access to a full 88 MIDI keyboard, after all.StevenO wrote:For sure. They did a great job of modelling the synths. They're I think 4 voice rather than 8, but meh!

Re: The Synth Thread...
The original Juno is 6 voice. But yeh 4 sucks. I had a Jupiter 4..never liked it. The 4 is better(imo) as a mono in Roland ProMars form which is a amazing sounding synth. Really for a chord machine you need 6 poly minimum if you don't want to get your note tails cut off all the time.StevenO wrote:For sure. They did a great job of modelling the synths. The Juno 6/60/106 is one of the nicest sounding cheaper(used to be!) vintage polysynths you can buy.

Ooof, yes. 6 voice. I got confused because I reading up on the modules and I read that you can daisy chain them for 8 voices. Which is pretty cool, I guess... I'd still rather have the big ol' Juno.

Re: The Synth Thread...
I've had one since they came out, along with the little keyboard attachment. I only use it when i travel so I have something to play with. It's small enough for me to play with on a long flight if I'm bored. Other than that, I don't use it for recording or anything. It's a great toy that borderlines as a tool.Maggieo wrote:Any opinions on the Boutique Juno?

Anyone have any thoughts on the new Roland SH-01a? Kind of interested in it, personally.

Re: The Synth Thread...
In the quest for that classic Sci-Fi Moog sound (and more!), I finally started on the path to Eurorack. Tonight, with some of the money I had saved from some of the guitar gear I've sold in the last week or so, I bought a power supply, power supply buss board, and a set of Tip Top Audio Z-Rails, so I can make my own Eurorack case
It's gonna be awhile before I get the modules I want, but I've got the first few planned. Here's the overall plan (haven't decided on which ADSR module, and not sure about the two modules at the right end at all either):
I'm planning on one VCO, the filter, and the VCA to start with, and then go from there.
For the case, I was really inspired by the slight-tilted, almost-upright classic Moog modular stuff (as shown here being played by Hans Zimmer) where I could slide the controller/keyboard underneath when not playing:
Maybe something simple like this:
