60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
Hey Offset Junkies!
So 2018 will mark the 60th anniversery of the incredible, if not misunderstood, Fender Jazzmaster. Is it plausable Fender will commemorate this special occasion with an anniversary model? Perhaps I’m just being pathologically optimistic?
Sure, it could be easy to predict Fender releasing a model available in sunburst only, with anodized pickguard, vintage fret size, 7.25” radius, laquer, etc., with a stomach turning price tag. The nay sayers may suggest I shut up and buy road worn, 60’s laquer, a used AV, or the “almost there” Amercian Professional. Fair enough.
The dreamer in me, and I don’t think I’m alone here, would like to see Fender give the Jazzmaster enthusiast the ultimate 60th anniversary pants creaming. A Standard model, with the appointments listed above, with the colors they’ve beed aching for. Forrest Green, Lake Placid Blue, Shell Pink, Aztec Gold, etc.(with matching head caps.) Sure, throw in a suburst too. The nay sayers may suggest it’s already available, it’s called a thinskin, jackass, albeit at a non-standard model price. Again, fair enough.
Perhaps the anesthesia is still lingering from my surgery today & I’m romancing the idea, but I’m hoping for the best from Fender.
Although a Kevin Shields & Nels Cline signature model would be pretty awesome too!
Best,
Billy

I can't believe it's been 10 years since the last Jazzmaster anniversary. They did a pretty sweet Sunburst w/ gold guard and black pickup covers/knobs for the people playing at the event.

In 2012 they made a 50th anniversary Jag with a mix of features from different years old and new (B&B neck, nitro finish, no matching headstock, tremolo moved closer to bridge, hotter pickups, uncommon colors (Burgundy Mist, Lake Placid Blue)). Would be cool if they tried something like that for the Jazzmaster's 60th.

I'd give anything to see them release an AV65 line of Jaguars and Jazzmasters

Move the tremolo to the very end of the the guitar and put two pickups behind the bridge.

That 50th was the only Jag I've ever had gear lust over. I like them, but not quite my cup of tea usually. Conceptually something similar to that could really be a winner for me if I were in the market for a high end JM. Currently if I were looking for an American made JM, I'd probably try and track down a TMJM.

Re: 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
Am I the only one who wishes Fender would expand the line of Jazzmasters/Jaguars to that of the Strat or Telecaster? A standard Jazzmaster with original specs and in a variety of colours, price probably around £500-£600, original electronics, pickup configuration etc. Instead of the horrible Fender Standard Jazzmaster with humbuckers. Misses the point completely. It goes so far to say that many "grunge" players modified their Jazzmasters in such a way.
That was Kurt Cobain with a Jaguar and he didn't even modify it, he bought it second hand with humbuckers.
Custom colours Jazzmaster would be nice too.

The Jaguar doesn't even have a standard model. This is a terrible oversight from Fender IMO.

Re: 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
I'd be good with a reissue of the thin skins that they did in sunburst/blonde with the gold guard.
A 60th Anniversary model with those specs and black covers etc could tempt me into a new purchase.
Unfortunately the last anniversary model I saw was the 60th Ani Esquire that came in sunburst with a really horrible 'diamond anniversary' decal under the lacquer behind the bridge that really took away from it.
There's form here - the '79 Anniversary Strats for example. Hopefully we won't see something like that.
To be honest I suspect it'll be ignored...

Re: 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
Pussies.
The only way to keep rawk alive is to give the Jazzmaster to Jackson. Pointy headstock, neck through, Floyd Rose, pickups with more power than Kim Jong-il and of course fully slathered with an airbrushed large breasted woman riding a flaming Alicorn out of hell. Oh and...a fret for every year.
MFGA with the Jackmaster.

Fender doesn’t exist any more. Everything post December ‘64 is a copy.
