New project...
Starting a new project, and could use some input. I’ve been wanting a Les Paul Jr -type guitar, with a single P-90. Aesthetically, I like old cheap retro-looking things. I have a few cheap paddleboard bolt-on necks, scale length 25.5” and 24.75”, to choose from. Here’s what I’m thinking:
The body is small, and I may need to bump out the tail to give it better balance. I was thinking Coronet or Wilshire in scale. I’m not sure whether to go with an upper horn, or a single cutaway.
The color is a “basil” rattlecan from the local crafts store. Body will be poplar—almost decided on basswood, so that it would ding up really quickly.
I’m partial to the offset 3+3 headstock, although this headstock isn’t angled, but Fender-style one-piece flat, so I need to give that some thought. Need to dial in tuner placement angles as well.

Re: New project...
Working now. I would go with the 24 3/4" scale and 3x3 head. Try drawing it out full size on cardboard and see how it fits.

Re: New project...
Working for me now I'd go with the offset 3+3 headstock. I don't see something like that very often and I like the looks.

Re: New project...
Neat! I'd say body #1/2 with the head from #4. That would look damn classy.

Re: New project...
I like it, but it looks too much like a Telecaster to me (nothing wrong with that, but I already have a couple).sirspens wrote:Two votes!marqueemoon wrote:I like the bottom right combo the best.
The upper horn is what bothers me--the other one looks too Stratty, and the other other one too Dano-ish. How about this (a little rough, but here's the idea):
Intentionally a little Ric-ish.
