Pathfinder 15r problems
Bad luck continues! This time in the form of an amp. Got it in the mail today, no sound from the speaker at all. Probably disconnected, right? Well there's no sound from the headphone out either and the speaker connections look just fine. It turns on, but I just cannot get it to make any sounds. I'm thinking it might be the input jack, but would like to see what OSG'rs might think.

I think maybe you should play the harmonica.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: Pathfinder 15r problems
See, a lot of the guitar stuff I complain about most players would ignore. I'm sure most guitarists would have played that guild I had no problem; the intonation was almost spot on. It sort of makes me feel like a whiner, rather than having high standards. Then shit like THIS comes along and proves that there is some cosmic force destroying my new gear.
Also, regarding the amp: There's an LED that lights up on the pcb when I tap the input side of the cord, particularly when it's on the gain channel. I assume it corresponds with the gain. That would rule out a bad input jack, methinks. Back to square fucking one.
EDIT: Nevermind, fixing these things on your own is so satisfying. Even if it took 4 fucking hours.

Re: Pathfinder 15r problems
I got lucky. One of the pin connectors had a ground loose. Simply by retouching the soldering of that particular wire, it started working again. My knowledge of amps is small, I was just lucky enough to notice that it started to make sound when I moved some wires around. I then checked every single wire on it until I got to that one.

Glad you got it figured out. Fixed a similar problem with a well-used P15R years ago (now sold). P15R's are a fun little amp and I missed that one so bought another when they discontinued them.

Oh, nice fix. I was gonna suggest that the output amplifier chip may have died. Wouldn't have been a difficult part swap, but lucky you!

if i could ask a question about this amp...mackerelmint wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2017 4:17 pmOh, nice fix. I was gonna suggest that the output amplifier chip may have died. Wouldn't have been a difficult part swap, but lucky you!
when you run the line out for an extension speaker, does it cut the speaker in the amp?
If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

It surely does, and they sound gorgeous through a 12 inch speaker.jakeisjake wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 7:31 pmif i could ask a question about this amp...mackerelmint wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2017 4:17 pmOh, nice fix. Re: Pathfinder 15r problems
There's probably a mod for that. I doubt speaker load would really be much of a concern.
