Fwiw, its sounds like there a few things going on in the JW track. Sometimes I'm hearing a separate track with what sounds like a different part swelling in backwards. But I'm also hearing what sounds like a reverse delay or reverb effect. Where you track the effect, then reverse it and add delay or reverb to the reverse track. Then you flip it again so the solo is normal but the delay or reverb is still in reverse. So when you're listening you hear the notes sort of swell and ghost in just before the fundamental notes come in.

Wait! if you listen closely to both examples. it seems the guitar tracks are actually forwards. its just the reverb is applied in reverse.

That's funny, its these simple effects that are hard to describe. allegedly there was an argument in the studio when they wanted to that little bit of reverse effect on immigrant song. about whether or not thats even possible
