Gone but not forgotten... Gear you miss.

Post by Heartland » Mon Jun 19, 2017 7:21 am

Life's not all about regrets, but I bet a lot of us have a piece of gear or 3 that we didn't realize was a keeper until it was gone.

Post some pics of the gear you let get away.

Image

Here is a couple of 60s Gibson amps. In hindsight, they were both keepers. The Hawk was very rude and Voxy, and that Medalist, wow clean, deep, loud and the lushest reverb ever heard. That amp was perfect for pedals. Like that Real Tube pedal there that is also long gone. That refinished, Bigsbyed and Sperzeled Rocket went to Australia. I hope it's still rockin'!

This Orange Rocker 30 was an extremely useful amp that looked AMAZING on stage. This photo was us trying to do an Ummagumma tribute during a morning-after packing up. It's amazing what seems a good idea when you've got time and aren't exhausted from just gigging.

Image

I only had it a short time and didn't quite get to grips with it but I needed money to buy a 60s Mustang.

1962-4 Gibson LG-0 in absolute mint condition. The thing basically played itself.

@Mecha: always nice to see a band that takes the effort to haul a real hammond (M100 I think) to a gig!

I've never played through one of those Rocker 30s, but yeah they look super cool! Probably sound awesome too.

Man ... where to start

'64 SG Junior.
Image
I can't even remember why this got traded/sold ... this was a killer guitar. I nearly bought it back once but someone else beat me to it.

'72 ES345
Image
What a great guitar. It got traded against my '62 ES345, which I certainly don't regret ... but I do miss this one. It was a particularly good Norlin Gibson.

And the one I miss most.
Image
1966 refinished Jazzmaster. I've had a few old CBS era JMs - but this was the nicest I've played. A totally different sounding and playing guitar compared to my '62 JM (I sold it to fund the '62). In an ideal world I'd have kept both, but something had to give.

Uhhhh, let's see:

My first "good" guitar, my MIM Tele. That'd be nice to have back. My Ibanez AR50 that I ditched too soon for being "too heavy".

Mostly the things I miss are amps. I'd gladly take back about half the amps I ditched. Especially my most recent loss, the Avatar 18.
