Reverend Double Agent III Transformation
I guess this guitar is an offset... But anyway - I think that the Reverend Double Agent III is one of the greatest modern guitars. The combination of scale lengths, pickups, hardware, etc. make it easy to play and nail a ton of tones. The bass contouring is genius, and I like the trem. It's probably the most versatile guitar that I own. So, I picked one up with a thicker neck and am going to make it into a project.
Here's what we're doing:
Marty Bell Champagne Sparkle Refinish
Lollar Goldfoil Neck Pickup
ThroBak SLE-101 PAF Bridge pickup
Cream or white plastics, I need ideas!
It should turn out really well. I'm pumped. I might also throw in another gold foil in the middle, eventually.
Progress so far:
Here is is stripped down, double checking that the Lollar Goldfoil will fit in. It does, perfectly. Notice the finish fade...
Here's the finish I'm going for:

I don't know if the cream would go well with the champagne finish, but I LOVE the idea of the cream on those two pickups, especially with the black pickguard

I'm thinking parchment or white... Not sure which pickup rings I'm going to go with.

Update on the project, although this hasn't been of interest here...
The guitar is all ready to go - just waiting on the custom guard.
Refin:
The pickguard and backplate being done by Decoboom and will be in this pattern:
Got the Lollar Goldfoil and the ThroBak SLE-101 all ready to go! Just got to order a new switch tip and have it put back together!

I love it. Reverend guitars are vastly underrated. I have a triple P90 slingshot with a bigsby in the old bug eye metal finish, and I love that guitar.

Can't wait to see the end result. Looking at those photos, it occurs to me now that that Reverend's shape is very similar to a Toronado (or perhaps I should say the other way around).
The artist formerly known as mbene085.

Yeah - it's pretty out there. I like having a few stage guitars that are a bit ridiculous. Should make a great companion for my Mustang:Steadyriot. wrote:Oooeeee I like this one! Not my style but a bold choice none the less!

Oh and the Reverend's nice. The Double Agent III is so much nicer than the OG version. The OG is the ugliest guitar I've ever seen.
The Double Agent III is not even slightly offset (this doesn't matter in the mods/projects section though of course)

I'm excited to see how this turns out. That Decoboom pickguard is going to look rad with the sparkly finish and the goldfoil pickup.

Re: Reverend Double Agent III Transformation
I don't think you quite got the same finish as that sample guitar. Yours is way better.
