Are you hearing the "ghosting"/behind the bridge harmonics through your amp?

Yeah, a little bit, but knowing Jazzmasters I can totally understand that being the case.

I have the same guitar. All seemed fine but then the saddles started moving on their own an other misc. buzzes appeared. After a few weeks with it I installed 1/2 degree Stewmac shim. I like that it is a dead nuts perfect fit and not a scrap of matchbook or whatever people use. $8.00 shipped? So what. We've all spent more on other BS that did nothing. This is cheap. At the same time I also corrected the radius back to 7.25" and used Loctite to keep it all in place. These two things did wonders for the guitar. Next I added 11-50 Gabriel Tenoro strings. Check them out.

Update:
Just got the guitar back from the luthier and he added a very slim (not sure what mm) ebony shim to the neck pocket. The bridge went up about 1/8" and it added the perfect amount of break angle. There's way more sustain and the guitar feels/plays so much more solid. He also slightly filed down a few of the nut slots the whole setup plays like melted butter on freshly made waffles with warm maple syrup. The action is nice and low without any string buzz and the notes ring out so nice and clear. I can't put it down.

Nice. Have you noticed any changes to the harmonics/"ghosting" you were hearing?

There's still the classic ghosting which you get with an offset, but it' doesn't have as much echo to it...if that makes any sense whatsoever LOL! Everything just seems and feels tighter, more connected to the guitar.

Shim plus shipping is about $15 and takes about a week to receive. I can make a full pocket maple shim in 15 minutes, ranging from .03 to 2 degrees. I do get the convenience factor, for those that don't have the tools.

There is nothing wrong with using a paper/cardboard shim, however. Its what Fender used for decades. Some folks use a pick. They all work.

Nice. Is it a full pocket shim? Tapered or flat?

You know, that's a great question and I honestly didn't ask him. I'll ask and find out. I'm interested to know as well now that you mention it.
