Re: Incoming NGD: Custom Jazzmaster
Thanks... yeah, the color is Sherwood Green.
I'm pretty excited about it, but the real inspiration for this build wasn't so much the color as much as it was about the neck. I've wanted a Jazzmaster with a nice chunky neck for some time, yet every one that I've ever played was just too skinny for me (I have pretty large hands).
I was going to just build one myself and began sourcing parts, when an opportunity came along to get this thing built. It took a lot longer than expected... but that just gave me more time to save up some cash to pay for it
The neck profile is from a Custom Shop '54 Strat that I played and just couldn't put down... the neck felt absolutely perfect in my hand. It's kind of a deep U shape, nice and full, though not quite No-Caster fat. Fretboard radius is 9.5 with 6105 frets.
I'm really happy with it, though I'll probably end up putting on a Staytrem bridge. Also considering a pickguard swap.

Sherwood is a very nice colour for guitars, especially for offsets. Even a strat looks good in sherwood green.
Free to those that can afford it, very exspensive to those that can`t.

Re: Incoming NGD: Custom Jazzmaster
That's a really nice Jazzmaster - nicely done OP!
Before I found 'the' Jazzmaster for me, I toyed with the idea of ordering a custom spec one. I love the '65 AV neck profile (as well as the D&B look), but would have loved one in LPB or Inca Silver (matching headstock) ... plus I'd have preferred Antiquities (I) over the '62 or '65 RI pickups. I was put off by the wait/lead time - the local CS dealer said it would take something like four to six months from order to delivery. Bilt were quicker ... so I ended up ordering a Relevator from them instead.
You're right about the neck - that, more than anything else, is the main advantage of being able to custom spec the guitar. Necks are so important for me - more than anything else it's a too skinny neck that will make me start to think about selling a guitar that I otherwise like. The ones that are keepers are usually keepers because of the neck.
Hopefully you'll have it in hand soon and we'll get to see some more photos!
