Man that switch looks great! I would imagine that's a pretty good place for me too. As far as Gibsons go, my main ones are a Flying V, a DC Special and a 330. All of those have the switch in that neighbourhood.
Looking excellent, how's the bridge height / neck pocket depth situation?

Yeah, I started moving my JM switches to that location about 15 (yikes) years ago. I never use a tone knob and rarely change pickups so out of the way is best for my 'aggressive' playing style.Deed_Poll wrote:Man that switch looks great! Bridge/neck/etc height thing seems to be playing out alright so far. I made a tweak to the neck to give it a degree of relief based on just the basics that are there and I reckon it'll be alright. Final setup and first play will decide what (if anything) needs sorting in that department.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Nice! When you say you never change pickups, are you mostly in the bridge position? I guess putting the switch below the strings you'll never accidentally switch it to the neck position.
Because I have a friend who's the same and I've been wondering whether a Fernandez sustainer under a dummy JM cover could be rigged to work with a pair of slide switches in the rhythm circuit position, instead of the ugly mini toggle arrangement...and stick a fat PAF in the bridge position and a kill button where the hex plate would be.

Yeah, never really deviate from bridge pickup... Which makes me spending all that money on such a nice neck pickup a little extravagant but, oh well. The sustainer idea could well work...give it a go!Deed_Poll wrote:Nice! When you say you never change pickups, are you mostly in the bridge position? Re: Korina Jazzmaster/Jazzblaster variant...
So, after 6 weeks of waiting, the custom Wide Range Humbuckers I had wound by The Creamery arrived. So I wired up and got to hear this for the first time...
...and it sounds great! Bright but smooth - just what I like out of my Jazzmasters!
Feels great to finally see this finished, and to have done so much myself. I'm happy it turned out so nice.
Again, massive thanks to Deedpoll for enabling this project with his CNC machine. I hope I've done your work justice. Thanks to Jaime @ The Creamery for winding such fantastic pickups to my personal spec...and this board for the encouragement

Looks and sounds great Johnny! I just hope I have done justice to the beautiful piece of Limba you sent me! The finish is perfect. Congrats, and thanks, this one was a real pleasure to work on with you.

...thats a partscaster I put together. Has an Electrical Guitar Company bridge pickup, and a generic zebra Super Distortion clone in the neck. Needs new tuners at some point.

Love this build.
Cellphone vid has me jonesing for a set of those Creamery humbuckers for sure. Now that I'm playing a bit again they're definitely an option.
Sounds wonderful...

I'd put a custom Fender waterslide on it, only reflecting your custom build/personality/etc- honor the Fender influence without and chance of misleading anyone with a stock Fender decal. Blank would definitely look very cool though.... Absolutely stunning wood! Well done!johnnysomersett wrote:Exactly why I was questioning it.Steadyriot. wrote:Did Fender build it?johnnysomersett wrote:Do I 'Fender' the headstock? Can't decide whether to waterslide or not.
