Pink boxes

Post by i love sharin foo » Sun May 08, 2016 4:54 pm

:-[ hehe.. maybe the heading was crude... I thought it was at least a little bit funny.. anyway..

Here is my pink delay collection. I will NEVER let go of any of these. They are a permanent fixture on my boards. You never know which one will work best for a given situation. The DM-2 and 3 are nearly identical with the 3 being slightly cleaner. I consider these to be thin and moderately hi-fi as far as analog delays go. The AD9 is fairly dirty and pretty thick. It is more of a sludgy tone, kind of chunky. The AD-80, running on 18 volts, has a lot of headroom and clarity but is still thick. I consider it a clunky delay. It isn't subtle. The Boss units fade into the background and build up and wash there. The AD80 is much more present and doesn't sit in the background at all. If you want something very rhythmic that counts on clear repeats that sound nearly as loud and clear as your regular sound, this is the one. The AD9 is probably the most versatile of the lot. None have much delay time.. a few hundred milliseconds is about it for all. That never bothers me though as I still use my Moogerfooger MF-104Z for longer delays. As an interesting note, I find the Boss units to resemble very much the Moogerfooger's tone when set to it's shorter delay range. Oscillation is probably best on the Boss pedals. The AD9 isn't too eventful. The AD80 is more interesting but still not quite as unique as the DM-2/3.

Those are all awesome sounding pedals (though I'm not SUPER familiar with the SS/BS stuff, just a little bit), but it always makes you wonder why people who design stuff do things the way they do. They look awesome, but my first instinct either thinking about delay pedals OR thinking about a pink-colored pedal, isn't a joining of those two things. To me, the color for delay in my head is either blue or white, and pink would make me think fuzz or some type of gain. Those Ibanez and Maxon pedals though :? :?

Whut?!?!

No AD-900???!!!

:D

Just kidding. Your Moog takes care of the longer DM style territory and more. Awesome collection. I've had all of these over the years and always loved the AD80 most.

I always meant to get an AD-900 but yeah, always figured the Moogerfooger filled that void for my needs. They do sound GREAT though :?

They're pretty great! I've had a few.

I think the Moog is super close those. From what I can tell the 900 has the same base delay tone but without all the bells and whistles.

Also, wasn't this thread intended to be about pink DELAY pedals? Not post any pink pedal?

:-*

I love the look of those old maxon pedals! There's an oddball one for sale on eBay at the moment, has the square footswitch but its in an mxr size box?

Have you had any experience with the DM-2w? Love mine, and I'd like to know how the real ones compare, prices are not so daft at the moment too...

I was wondering "why no pics of the Lovetone RingStinger?" That is the only pink pedal I have as all my delays are silver or black.

Well, I guess the thread is open to any pink pedal! :D

Post that Ring Stinger! I doubt there are many folks here with old Lovetone stuff. :? :-*

Bigger than 2 expression pedals, crazier by itself than most pedalboards in ensemble, able to force mouths open with a single stomp, I give you the Lovetone RingerStinger:
