Reverend Style Bass Contour wiring?
I tried out a reverend guitar today and I found that I quite like the bass contour knob.
Here's how I usually wire up my guitars. Basically 1 volume 1 tone like a tele with whatever selector switch I'm using.
Reverend refused to provide a schematic so I'm asking here if anyone knows how it's wired and possibly how it would fit in with this diagram.

After extensive googling I made this..
If anyone who actually understands electronics could weigh in on my attempt.

First off, I LOVE your graphic for saying what pot size that is. 1 Meg. Brilliant
I think it's probably similar to one of my favorite wiring schematics:
I tried this in a bass and I LOVED it. I'm dying to try it on a guitar.

Shadoweclipse13, is that based on the G&L controls?

I believe so. I originally found it one night at work (3rd shift) when I was bored and just looking for cool guitar pictures for project inspiration. It was from a Premier Guitar Mods article and I believe he stated it was based on the G&L wiring... Awesome article.salty wrote:Shadoweclipse13, is that based on the G&L controls?

I don't have any 500k lying around. I hope the 1meg will do.

Try it! And let us know. I'm curious if it will work the same.arri93 wrote:I don't have any 500k lying around. I hope the 1meg will do.

Cool! Yeah, I am about to try it with 1meg roller pots. I did just the bass control portion on my Squier Mascis and like it a lot. I am thinking of doing both controls on my new build.

1M will work fine, just change the response of the control; generally the lower the pot value the quicker it will roll off bass. I use a .001uf and a 1M on my Jazzmaster and it's great. I also use a .0047 bridged across the balance pot on my Rickenbacker and that works nicely for rolling bass of the neck.Shadoweclipse13 wrote:Try it! And let us know. Here is a link and schematic to try out, too: http://tonefiend.com/guitar/two-band-pt ... p-awesome/
I didn't like the knob operation as drawn and swapped the solder pads so the knob rotates in a more intuitive direction.
I modified a Strat with the G&L circuit first and was not fond of it. The Reverend circuit as I remember was more similar to the G&L setup. When I did the link above it was a very good performer. It is still in that guitar. However, I seem to use it at either 10 or 1 on the control knob and not really any in between position. So next install I am thinking of just using a fixed resistor with the capacitor and a toggle switch or push/pull switch. Awesome when playing through distortion.

Re: Reverend Style Bass Contour wiring?
My P/J bass is set up with Vol/Vol and a switch for the bridge pickup which changes it from On/Off/On (with 0047 cap). That's easy enough to wire, I used this example from Tonefiend and modified it slightly. This one gives you two varying degrees of cut and similar for treble.jvin248 wrote:Here is a link and schematic to try out, too: http://tonefiend.com/guitar/two-band-pt ... p-awesome/

Here's a thread on TDPRI that might help:
http://www.tdpri.com/threads/anyone-rec ... it.372040/
Also of note, I think that the Reverend bass contour circuit varies a little depending on what type of pickups are used.
