The MM Stingray in double-black looks fantastic, can't wait for those to hit shops. Love the big clunky strat trem too.

Small write-up w/ Annie appeared in this month's issue of Guitar World (the Trey Anastasio cover), cut & pasted from some other site I will not mention:
Annie Clark wrote:“I really had total free reign,” she said. “I could have revamped one of their existing models or started from scratch and done my own. I ended up just starting from scratch. My particular guitar is based a lot on [Eighties German synthpop artist] Klaus Nomi’s aesthetic, the Memphis design movement, which was an [Eighties] Italian design movement, those Sixties and Seventies Japanese designed guitars like Tescos and then I went for classic car colors. I really like cars so I went for a ’68 Corvette with the color scheme.” When asked about how it felt to be one of the few women with a signature guitar line, she had this to say: “Well I’m certainly glad to be a beacon for women and for anybody who likes music and my music. I’m glad that another guitar exists that is sympathetic to the female form. I’m glad that exists and I hope people, men and women, will enjoy the ergonomics. But smaller people and women especially.”
Smol confirmed!

I hope this offer is good thru Smarch (edit: nope, it isn't).

I personally thought it quite nice to see a guitarist name check a credible design movement (but it doesn't look very Memphis to me) and someone that isn't yer typical rawk pig.

A few years ago I went to a play that someone I know was involved in. in tribute to Klaus Nomi (Do you Nomi?). I didn't exactly enjoy it, since it combined two things I'm not keen on; tribute acts and theatre in general. You'd have loved it. :D

Though I winced a bit when she used the term 68' Corvette which is in car terms the equivalent of name checking Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The first time I became aware of Klaus Nomi was in high school when I watched URGH! A music war. When he showed up doing "Total eclipse", my mind was blown by the sheer awfulness of the spectacle on the screen. I instantly hated him more than I had ever hated almost any person up to that point in my life: the perfect storm of an aesthetic I couldn't stand combined with a completely wretched song. I've never heard any other music of his. People talk it up for being avant garde, but I grew up in the 80s surrounded by artists and I've never had any time for anyone actively trying to be avant-garde and cool, just because everyone I've met who's set that as their goal has been, to a person, completely insufferable... So I doubt that the self-insistent mewlings of a balding, clockwork codpiece like him would win me over in the end.

I like that she took cues from outside the rawk ouvre as well, but jesus christ, Klaus Nomi, really?

Right when the damn thing was starting to grow on me.

On a pre-order item you dont pay until it ships if that helps.

What do you get if you cross Klaus Nomi, Astroboy and a drum kit?

This thing looks like a retro futurist reinterpretation of the MM Armada.

I'll probably call & haggle as much as I can around the actual date (I'm superstitious that way), but that's nice to know! MF has been pretty good to me in the past & on the phone, so fingers crossed 'till then.

The first time I ever saw this performance I sat & wept, for like 1000 reasons, but mostly because it still feels like a clear & pure expression (that voice), moreso than that documentary about him managed to convey in 90 minutes.

Rumors are that a St. Vincent bass is coming (hopefully this NAMM?). It's said to be a short scale.

I got to play the Sterling version of this one at GC last night, and WOW. Those minihumbuckers rip! Nice and bright but still plenty bitey. Still think they could have tried a little harder on the headstock (I could see it with a Parker Fly style headstock and that working out nicely...), but all in all it's a swell instrument and quite fun to play.
