No, it's alder. I had to look twice too. Alder is occasionally very grainy but it doesn't have the "dots and dashes" like ash. The pores are much tighter. Also, those long black lines that look like random pencil marks are characteristic of alder.
cool info, thanks, fullerplast!

Still waiting for the refined body.
I'll post pics as soon as I receive it.
Dan said 4 to 6 weeks and it's been 4 weeks.
I have a few gigs this summer and I'd sure like to take her out !

I got one getting refin'd by Dano too at the moment, though I probably have much longer to wait than you. :)

It's slowly coming together now.
In the end it needed a refret and one of the pickup I bought needed a rewind.
I bought a 1964 pickup set so I'm happy about that.
The refin is killer seriously !
Worth the money !

I'll post pics when I get it back from the luthier

3 years since the last post. OP hasn't logged in since December 2014.

I'd venture to say you'll be waiting a long time to see the results.

Yeah, but it'll be worth it! ;)

Damn I miss Doug's presence here :(
