i've been reading here on the forum a lot of discussion about CAR finishes on offsets and, it's funny, i don't really WANT to like them--possibly b/c of the way they might look onstage--but they are really eye-catching to me. Especially with finish wear.
Maybe b/c psychologically (subconsciously) it represents energy, passion, etc.
Or it's just looks HOT to me :w00t:

i just got more pics of the CAR '70.

a bunch of changes and the back of the neck looks really shiny. hardly any wear to finish except the headstock.
did not make my heart skip. looked better blurry! :)

It seems that any color other than sunburst is rare on a 70s Jazzmaster, but black is the only other color I have ever seen on a 70s JM, if memory serves.

I think (I could totally be talking out my arse here (I probably am)) but I think that from 1965 onwards, they only made sunburst models...

That cream with matching headstock is beautiful.

Is there a comprehensive guide to the changes of jazzmasters over the years?..... I'm sure I could just search the forum.

Are those Coronado necks the same as Jazzmaster specs (besides the headstock and Grover tuners difference)?

Weird that the 1970 catalog shows a guitar with a transition logo....

But damn hot looking!

OLY and CAR are seen once in a while...
there's a 1970 CAR for sale at a guitar center right now. it's on the thread. but black does seem rare. i love 'em too!
