Re: Where are all the 70s Jazzmasters?
i've been reading here on the forum a lot of discussion about CAR finishes on offsets and, it's funny, i don't really WANT to like them--possibly b/c of the way they might look onstage--but they are really eye-catching to me. Especially with finish wear.
Maybe b/c psychologically (subconsciously) it represents energy, passion, etc.
Or it's just looks HOT to me

Re: Where are all the 70s Jazzmasters?
i just got more pics of the CAR '70.
a bunch of changes and the back of the neck looks really shiny. hardly any wear to finish except the headstock.
did not make my heart skip. looked better blurry!

It seems that any color other than sunburst is rare on a 70s Jazzmaster, but black is the only other color I have ever seen on a 70s JM, if memory serves.s_mcsleazy wrote:how rare were black 70's jazzmasters? i kinda have a thing for well worn black jazzmasters.

I think (I could totally be talking out my arse here (I probably am)) but I think that from 1965 onwards, they only made sunburst models...

That cream with matching headstock is beautiful.
Is there a comprehensive guide to the changes of jazzmasters over the years?..... I'm sure I could just search the forum.

Are those Coronado necks the same as Jazzmaster specs (besides the headstock and Grover tuners difference)?

Weird that the 1970 catalog shows a guitar with a transition logo....Scantino wrote:Jazzmastervsjaguar wrote:From the 1970 catalog:

there's a 1970 CAR for sale at a guitar center right now. it's on the thread. but black does seem rare. i love 'em too!
