I used to have too many. But sometimes you just can't get enough!

Pork Loin --> Timmy --> Shinei FY-2 --> DAM Meathead --> Pharoah Fuzz --> Klon Klone

Did anybody round here try the EHX soul food yet? I'm very interested in one of those based on the reviews that can be found on youtube.

Down to an EP Boost (although I'm not running it where it produces any appreciable degree of dirt), a Nano BMP, an SL Drive on the main board w/ a floating spot for mega-dirt du jour and my MOSFET Boost. The last 2 will most likely be going bye bye in the near future to make room for a stereo trem.

Nice boost through OD that can actually get a fair amount of hair going (or more than I was expecting anyway). I've never tried a Centaur or other clones but it seems like a pretty decent pedal for the price to me. Nothing that I have a need for at the moment but pretty good none the less.

I have various dirt pedals and mix and match between a pedaltrain 2 as my big board and an EH bag as my small board. DIrt options are

Fuzz Factory bought in 2000
Fulldrive 2 bought in 2001
King of Tone bought in 2007
Klon Centaur bought in 2007

I've not bought a drive pedal since 2007. I tend to pick the pedal for application. The Fulldrive 2 is probably the most versatile and it doesnt have a great deal of treble so I tend to use it for softer drive sounds. Comp cut is better with a band. The King of Tone is great at home or with a clean amp but tends to get buried in a loud band. The Klon is amazing in a mix but pretty poor with a clean amp and/or for playing without a band. I got mine cheap so dont feel I have to defend it all the time. The Fuzz Factory is mental and only gets used for my own material, I've barely used it for 6 yrs and broke it out of the storage bin last week.

I also use an attenuator to drive my amps into overdrive at home and I also use preamp gain with a master. IMHO there's no one solution and if you have enough options you wont get bored or buried in a mix.

I'm not using any gain pedals and haven't for awhile now. I'll pull out my octane fuzz every now and then for some covers, but overdrive and distortion pedals have pretty much left my life.

Thinking about picking up a Timmy or something similar, I even played a fee random but fancy looking pedals at a shop recently, and I liked the mojo overdrive by TC Electronics.

I have 5 on by board right now...

- SHO clone
- Zen drive clone
- Big Muff clone (green Russian with mid scoop mod)
- Devi Ever Hyperion (clone)
- Spitfire Metal and Blues DIY (BSIAB clone, sounds like a modded plexi Marshall)

I often stack three at a time (SHO, into Zen, into one of the other three)

- Mike

This is a never-ending cycle I've been victim to for years, I'm constantly switching out fuzz/OD/Dist. I always find something I can't live without. Currently on the board is a Mojo Hand Rook Royale and Fulltone Ultimate Octave. Now that I think about it, I've had a lot of stuff over the years.

3. Zvex Fuzzprobe, Jetter Gain Stage Red, and a JHS Morning Glory on the board. Crazy, Dumble, and transparent boost/overdrive. I owned a Tanabe Dumkudo pedal twice. Loved the first and shouldn't have sold it. Second one didn't sound as good. I have a Soul Food as well. For $60, I figured why not?

too many. five.

swollen pickle, big muff pi v8, black secret, timmy & hustle drive.

I would like to get it down to just three, swollen pickle and big muff pi are keepers for sure. I use the muff most, it sounds just right yet more like distortion than a fuzz especially when compared to the pickle, stacked they are just insane which is always nice.
So the rest can fight amongst themselves for third.

black secret I prefer to my 90s rat2 but I'm still not sold on it, still sounds flat in the bedroom (much more suited to loud loud volumes).

hustle drive I've never been too fond of it's darkness but I'm really trying to find some use for it, stacked with the EQ it could grow on me.

timmy is a nice mild boost (also with the EQ) it gives me nice mild ODs, the hustle drive sure has some tough competition in the OD department.
If OSG has tort me anything...

um...iirc...8
foxx tone machine, dwarfkraft robot devil, Fulltone OCD(clone), Vox v810, EHX Double muff, Fender Blender, Big Muff, GGG Rat clone.
in that order i know it doesnt make any sense, but thats the way they sound good to me. lets leave it at that

EDIT: does the "distortion" knob on my JC-120 count?(it shouldnt...its aweful, but its there XD)
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

At the moment I have a Boss SD-1, A Mooer Blue Faze Fuzz Face, a Blue Whale Fuzz Face clone, a Mooer Black Secret Rat clone and a Nobels ODR-1+ Overdive.
I currently have my volume pedal sitting off my board, so am toying with sticking a Hello Sailor fuzz between that and the other dirties... mmm!

at the moment:

fixd fuzz clone
byoc rat with many mods

i like this because it does as much as six pedals! i had a few more-own at least 6 but hate deciding mid-jam which to use, the switches on fuzz and rat gain knob simply sound so different they are the two most versatile dirts i've had
