So I had never heard of Barbara Lynn, but as I was perusing through the channels last night I happened to catch a bit of her video for "You'll Lose a Good Thing" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoaLCc2jR_g) and was instantly struck by the fact that she was not only singing, but playing. Not only that, but there were 2 other guitarists with her! How had I not come across this person before? Anyway, in addition to writing and playing some great tunes, she also has had a sweet collection of axes over the years, including this beat up blocks-n-binding Jag:
A nice little Esquire (I'm guessing):

The thing that struck me in that video was how much her facial expressions and features remind me of Jimi. Weird. Thanks for sharing!
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Re: Barbara Lynn - Sweet 60's left hand soul
I have a good few of her singles and a couple of LP's but other than that I don't know much (have forgotten) about her. Might have got them in a batch of stuff, or used them to make up multi deal as can't remember directly buying them.
Later on she went more in a Betty Davis sort of direction, kinda pre-disco funk, but less bad girl pelvic thrusting. Post House Music I remember buying a re-edited 12 of You Make Me Feel So hot.

Interesting...despite my mistake, I stand behind this picture being in this or any thread on the account that it is utterly awesome .mulesing wrote:i believe that photo is actually of the Duchess who backed up Bo Diddley
