Oh man, that would be SUPER helpful Mike. Elliot is a huge influence on me, so he'll definitely be in there. I'll remember to reach out when I get to him.Mad-Mike wrote:I like this Blog idea as one whose a gearhead of bands. Since I've been getting introduced to The Clash though my wife and her friend Pierre last year, this was a cool read. I've been getting pretty heavy into Punk and have been on a obscure Post-Punk bent for years - plus I'm a massive The Cars gearhead if you need info/speculation on what they used as that band was my sonic obsession in middle/high school.
Yep, Buzzcocks are definitely on the list, but they are fairly simple as well. HH amps -> LP Jr/Gordon Smith guitars. Later Marshall amps.danbind wrote:Thanks, this is very cool.
How's about Shelley/Devoto/Diggle/Buzzcocks?
One of my favorite guitar sounds from that era is Paul Weller's on the Jam's "Setting Sons". Which I read is just a Rick 360 with hi-gains through a Peavey Bandit...
And yeah, that Setting Sons sound is so hilariously modest but effective. It's raspy as hell. Paul's ric was a 330 though, and the Peavey was a Backstage. You can see him go over to it during this live footage of Eton Rifles around 3 minutes in to get some feedback going.

Thanks for all this encouragement guys. I'm seriously glad people are enjoying what I'm doing. It's a push to do more!
