How many do you have?
Just got my first one this month, but it's a real honey. Definitely wouldn't mind another...

LOL. Ironically it is on PB...
It's a 1980 and it's fairly pristine for its age. Just did my first gig with it last night and it sounded pretty awesome.

Necro thread...but a friend said Johnny Marr played an SG1000 at a recent show and his other guitarist is now permanently welded to a white SG1000.

Well, that would fit with the recent price jumps I've seen on 'em.
THE END IS NEAR. Time to get into those Greco Ace Frehly models or something.

SO glad these are getting some love.
I managed a general musical instruments shop around 1979-83 and we were a Yamaha agent. But it was quite hard selling the SG2000, partly the recognition factor. It was very heavy; the pickups had coil taps but didn't have much grunt, especially the rhythm pickup The main one I remember went during the summer sale at 25% off which was nearly all our markup.
They are fantastic value now, but if you'd bought one back then, the value would have tanked. I bought my Olympic White 63 JM refin whie I worked in that shop for £180. Worth maybe £2k today? The SG2000 was at least £350, and now they're only £1500. Which makes them a bargain now, but not in 1983.

Time to look for 70's Ibanez Artists, I guess.

That looks like a great one and for a great price (these have all seemed to jump way up in the last few years.)
I wish I would have bought my bandmate’s SG1500 years ago when she sold it. So: looking again.

Oh hell yeah, that's a nice one. Post up some photos/clips when it shows up!
There must be some groupthink going on here because I've been really missing my 1000 lately and have been creeping around listings on Reverb. I want to try to track down an SBG1000/SG1000S (the thinner bodied ones) since my last one was a bit too hard on my back. I saw one on IG the other day that looks incredible.
This was mine, beauty that it was. I feel stupid for selling it but I needed a new amp at the time and funds were low:

And here's the SBG1000 I saw recently. A thing of stealth beauty:

Sadly it seems that the prices on these are finally starting to reflect their actual value so the deals are fewer and further between.

The red one I just bought only weighs 9.6 lbs. so that's not too bad. It doesn't have the coil splits which is a bummer but I have about 100 single coil guitars already so... haha.
I was psyched that he took $1300 for it. But with the new Reverb and CA tax laws, I paid $120 tax (and $50 shipping).
I was supposed to buy a nice 1981 brown sunburst SG2000 locally for $1700 but the buyer sold it yesterday morning. Then a few hours later I saw this red one on Reverb. It all worked out
What's weird is that I found the same red SG2000 on RockNRoll Vintage's website as a sold item. It was listed for $1995. I'm not sure if it sold for that much and how long ago it sold.
This is the exact guitar I bought:

Here's another red one that looks nice. Before buying mine, I hadn't seen a red one. Some say it's rare but I think there's quite a few.

That's super handsome.
And yeah, the original 2000s didn't have coil splitters until the 80s if I recall correctly. Why they would make that feature exclusive to the 1000s and 700s at the time I'm not really sure...
Either way, I remember being pretty impressed with the ones that were in my 1000. "Fendery" they weren't, but just the option of having a "thin" and "thick" sound for each pickup was really cool, imo.
