nah i wouldn't call it a bad egg at all. i got to play it yesterday, put in the missing sting thimbles (?), re-soldered the wire that had come loose of the bridge volume pot, etc. and it plays and sounds SO amazing!!! i'm willing to do what i have to do, but this one will be a keeper.

oh and i decided NOT to clean it. :D

the neck is fantastic, so nicely worn in, with the comfty feel (and not the terrible usual tele-baseball-bat).
now all it needs is a decent nut and it's perfect.

stay tuned!

but MAN i LOVE the WRHB in the neck!!!

now, i'll try to integrate this guitar into my band... but i'm OH SO tempted to slap a bigsby on it.
should i? which model would it be?

thnx.

I'd probably check into the body itself to see how far the damage has spread before slapping a bigsby on it. It'd suck if you installed it then went to use it and the damn thing rips off because of the weak wood.

You might consider coating it with wood petrifier or hardener. Never had this problem of course so take that with a grain of salt. But, I had to do so with rotting beams in my house that were falling apart. It did make them harder and more structurally sound. Could be an idea.

thanks, could be interesting... :shifty:
i'll check out my local home mart to see what they say... and if they even have it.
i don't want to screw up the finish more than necessary, but maybe it can be injected into the body thru the holes, etc.

thnx!

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Apart from that, congratulations! I'm sure you'll be able to sort out the worm infestation, have necessary repairs done and then enjoy a one-of-a-kind guitar for the rest of your life :) I'm pretty sure Telecasters are the third thing beside cockroaches and Twinkys that'd survive a nuclear war. It'll be fine.

Has the semi hollowness affected the tone? ;D
Being serious now, go to the hardware shop there are lots of products.

Best comment ever :D I say that all the time about other stuff, but that's a first for musical instruments. Haha

Pat, that Tele is gorgeous! I don't have any other advice woodworm-wise (try saying THAT ten times fast), but she's definitely a keeper. Tele Customs are one of my absolute favorite designs!

axehound wrote:How can the worms still be alive without a water source, unless there is enough moisture in the wood to sustain them? If they are still alive and if you can find some ants that don't eat wood, maybe you you could put the body and neck only in an aquarium with the ants. The ants would eat the worms, then you poison the ants and use compressed air to get rid of dead ants, dust ect. I know this sounds like a crazy idea but it might work so please don't take it too seriously.
I agree with axehound, but I don't understand why you would use poison to finish the ants; the poison could affect the guitar's finish. Anteaters. So ants to kill the worms, anteaters to kill the ants, and then...cougar or something for the anteaters. It's the only way.

Got the call. Rewiring , new nut and complete refret with setup will set me back around €350. Never done that before but I think she's worth it.

Now... after this one... the CW Jag...? 🤔
