Funniest auction I've seen in years.

Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Dang!

Did you read how he did it? It's in the first Q&A at the bottom.

I wonder how he came up with a range of $5000 to $30,000 as to worth? Thats quite a spread...

Yeah, crazy Mexican.

:P

I can't believe that guitar saved his life after he abused it with that horrible Kahler.

I love the way he reckons that an SG body (date undetermined) with extensive repairs and routing plus an aftermarket neck will be worth $30000. Dream on, mate.

Actually it looks to me as if the neck would be an easier fix than the body .. those headstocks snap all the time and get repaired and put back into circulation .. although how you feel about the sturdiness of a repaired headstock is another issue, but they do work. But the neck rout on the body is pretty much disintegrated .. there's not much to fasten the neck to in SGs to start with, so you'll be fixing the neck to new wood which is then fixed to the remains of the body .. I can't see how it would be done with any degree of stability.

that's horrible, I love SG's - it's probably the most offensive guitar I've ever seen!

I honestly can't see how anyone would think that a guitar with so many breaks could be classed as "easily repairable"...

the coward, he flung his helpless battered SG into danger instead of himself!

Also, I wonder what happened to his SGs 250 watt preamp with a seperate switch...

Actually that Kahler was factory stock on early 80's Gibson instruments.  My Kramer Focus 3000 has one on it branded Gibson that came off a Flying Vee I believe.  So don't blame him, blame Gibson.

How's that repairable? without buying an entire new guitar?

"....it had a 250 watt pre amp running with a seperate switch any combination & running Paf dimarzio super distortion pickup's...."

Makes one wonder why the guitar didn't selfcombust on stage anyway, using 250W to generate a line-level signal would leave a LOT of heat trapped inside the guitar. Maybe it tried to escape with the guy still hanging on to it?? ;D.

It can maybe be repaired btw but it's just not worth the trouble and cost really... The value of the repaired guitar will never exceed repair- and material cost, regardless of what this guy claims.

Those crazy Victorians

Yeah, crazy Mexican.
all I can say, he must be either from the northern or western suburbs and with an ebay name as hillbilly_music, it must be the outer suburbs of some country town, where when you wake up and you see your mother making breakfast you don't know whether to say "hello mum" or "hello sis"  ;)
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...
