NGD - Epiphone Alleykat
My work pays for my cellphone, and after the contract is over, I get to keep the old phone when they upgrade me. On Friday, I got an iPhone 5, so I cleaned up and unlocked my iPhone 4, and listed it for sale.
I listed it on the local classifieds, but I also listed it on the local FB musicians classifieds group with a bunch of other stuff I had for sale.
Yesterday, I got offered an Epiphone Alleykat as an even exchange for my phone. After checking it out, I agreed. It's got a few cosmetic issues, but nothing major. I went ahead and ordered new knobs and a new switch tip.
I was surprised how small the guitar is (it's a little bit bigger than a Les Paul), and how fast the neck is. She's a great player. For now, I'll hang on to her, and unless I fall in love with it, she'll be likely future trade bait. If I end up falling in love, I am considering putting a GFS retrotron in the bridge, since the Epi 57 bucker is a bit muddy. But first, a Bigsby B7 + Vibramate.
So far, all I've done is restring it and, and moved the main volume knob down to the replace the mismatched knob, and put a random knob I have at home for the master volume, while my new knobs arrive. I just couldn't deal with the strat knob.
The serial number places this as a June 2004, MIK.
So, yay! Another NGD
A few pics:

I used to have one of these--man, I loved it, but it had some intonation issues that I just couldn't get resolved. Love that trans black.

I honestly don't know much about cell phones but that does sound like a pretty decent trade. Nice looking guitar too. Digging the trans black finish. Don't typically like those kind of book-matched tops but on this it actually looks pretty cool. You should try replacing the other knobs to matched the new one you put on, looks really good with it.
I've been curious about these ever since they came out. Have yet to ever run into one in the flesh though. This has renewed my interest in them either way.
I'm quite fond of the Wildkat in turquoise.

Re: NGD - Epiphone Alleykat
I've got a seriously jacked Wildkat that was originally the orange flame maple finish and despite my doing a super amateur job refretting it, it still plays insanely good. The stock pickups aren't half bad either - at least at comfortable living room playing levels.. no clue about stage volume with the chromed metal covers.
Anyway, Happy NGD! I really like that black trans finish on there. Hell, the turquoise one above looks pretty sweet too. Now I want a new, non-destroyed one of these things.

These are fun- I've never played one of the full sized humbucker ones, but I've played one with minis and a couple of the p90 models and have been impressed with all of them.

Very cool, should look pretty sharp on there. I've wanted to get a Bigsby B/G bender for some time, this would be a great guitar for it though. Just wish they weren't so darn expensive.

I totally lied- I have played this model- sounded just as awesome as the p-90 version.

Awesome looking unit, but then I'm always a sucker for a hollow body.

Wow that looks awesome. It's very well balanced too with the chrome logo on the headstock and the Bigsby on the other end. Looks great.

So.. to bump this one up.
See this video? That's the guitar (no, not the lefty Gibby, the guitar on the right!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhQ_ZH4G8mg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I traded it with my friend Willy, who plays for this band.
Now feel free to skank away.
PAT!... This was in Vive Latino last month, sorry I didn't send you a message before the show. But maybe you saw it

(Christopher, also)
I've been to one World's Fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing i ever heard come out a pair of headphones.

Re: NGD - Epiphone Alleykat
LOVE the bikini-logo headstock. IMO it should be the standard Epiphone headstock.
Never been a huge fan of the "shrunk down" archtop bodies, but I saw one of these models in trams black at a Guitar Center a few months back and couldn't resist picking it up.
I didn't plug it in but the neck felt nice (body was heavy but resonant).
