First week back home after some time at the technician. :-*
I just love that guitar! And it's incredible what a difference it makes in playability and creativity compared to my other four electrics!

I wouldn't say the Gibson sounds better, just different.
That Gretsch had a lovely woody acoustic tone that I really miss.

I have other guitars to Comfort me though. :)

I just won an Ebay auction for a red Framus Television!

I'm so excited! I've wanted one for so long. I hope it can live up to my expectations.

Thanks! The guitar is a '67 Tennessean. I thought the factory finish was an odd factory brown sunburst, however the color was originally a dark burgundy - which is revealed under the Bigsby and pickup surrounds. Somebody loved this guitar and played it hard and put away wet way. I just recently had a refret with 6105's. Plays and sounds great!

Awesome ! I've spent some time with earlier version of television ('66) with three metal-housed slanted pickups (ala strato deluxe) and I loved the shape + the quirks of the guitar, but I wasn't super excited about those pickups - the "Lorento" black pickups in yours seem to be way more towards my liking + the colour ! If you would ever consider parting with it, let me know ;)

here are my current hollowbodies :) '66 Jolana Alexis Bass and '61 Jolana Diskant

Image

I love using both in the studio - I even used the Alexis Bass in several live situations. The Diskant on the other side is a bit unstable, the pickups are super microphonic and I had to string it with 9s to prevent neck from excessive bending - however I just love the sound, I used it all over our new album and it blends perfectly with my Jazzmaster. One day, I'm going to get myself built a "gigable" Diskant, but with those vintage Brilant pickups.

I guess I never posted this here. Here's my only hollow guitar, an Ibanez ASR-70, the Artcore and thus more modern equivalent of the Epiphone Casino.

Image

This model was discontinued after just like a year or two, so they're not all that common, but it's a sweet guitar. I got it on a whim after having had a number of beers in the sun and feeling really good about everything, finding it randomly on Thomann and deciding that shit, what's money anyway? I wanted something that could do the JAMC/Beatles thing and I wasn't all that attracted to any of the Casinos in my price range. This one plays amazingly once I nailed the set-up, has a really nice acoustic ring to it and, though I might switch out the P90's somewhere down the line, they're not bad at all, especially in a guitar that was less than 400€. I've wanted to put it up for sale to raise money for Jags and stuff several times, but I always play it and change my mind again. It's a keeper.

If you stumble on to one of these and a good thinline hollowbody on the cheap is your thing, I highly recommend it.
