I like the gold hardware as it matches the burst. I've always had problems with the low (thick) E buzzing out. Why would that be? Apart from that, it's a great 5 - string guitar! The humbuckers feedback like hell on boost, that's part of its charm!

Assuming you've tried raising the bridge on that side or fiddling with the truss rod, it's possible that you have a fret or two with the low-E side raised up a bit, or possibly in need of a leveling.

Pickups too high. Lowered them and intonated a bit. Seems better Thanks. This thing is a beast!

Obviously when I bought it 20 odd years ago, I wanted A Gibson ES-335. But these old epiphones are quite superb. There's more Gibson in these than Fender is to Squier by a country mile!

Unfortunately, it has been left untouched since then, still waiting for the money that'll allow me to finish her... She still needs new pickups (even though the stock ones are well better than expected) and new electronics; I'm unsure whether routing a back access or not.

The Epi Valensi Riviera is a lot of guitar for the money and the stock electronics are pretty solid.

I saw Iron Chic and Made Do & Mend over the weekend.

One of the guitarists from Iron Chic had a Sheraton II with a dogear P90 slapped into the bridge position, and the frontman from Make Do & Mend had a normal Sheraton II. Both natural finishes. Wasn't expecting that much Sheraton goodness from a punk rock show.

I love these, especially now that Epi makes them with a more authentic body shape. I'd bought a black one last year but returned it b/c the frets needed leveling and they didn't have anymore black ones in stock. I lucked into an Echotone that I like even more, but the Sheraton II is a sharp guitar.
