Re: Forgot how much I love Teles, AKA Tele Appreciation Thread
Being a 70s telecaster junkie, I sold the 75, sold a 77 strat and went all in for this 78 brown goodness:
So far I am very, very impressed. The neck is surprisingly thin for a late 70s tele, but it has original finish and all.
I finally made a demo of it, the twang is out of this world

My boss has a '71 Tele- didn't they have 1meg pots as standard? Crazy amounts of treble on-tap. Love it.

I think 1meg pots started later in the 70s, the 75 I had didn't have them (it had original pots)JamesSGBrown wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:42 amMy boss has a '71 Tele- didn't they have 1meg pots as standard? Crazy amounts of treble on-tap. Love it.
I actually like the 1 meg pot sound a lot, it helps especially when layering multiple fuzz pedals. I've bern always intrigued with late 70s wiring because of how the volume pot behaves - there is significant bass cut with lower volume setting, but the treble remain the same, it's the complete opposite to my vintage jazzmasters.
Haha, thanks, I suck at photography and I couldn't find right angle to exlude myself from the reflection )JVG wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 6:55 pmI like how you photo-bombed your own photo!Kinx wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 11:24 amBeing a 70s telecaster junkie, I sold the 75, sold a 77 strat and went all in for this 78 brown goodness:

New to me:
A Vintera limited LPB.
I love the idea of Tele Deluxes, and I also like pretty colours - I'm much less keen on natural, walnut, etc.
I'm very happy with it!

That's absolutely lovely! I feel like this could be a production model. I'm assuming that's a firebird in us neck?Chippertheripper wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 4:39 pm^ that’s sick.
I finally got off my rump and reassembled this, with a fresh 24.75 baked maple and rosewood neck. I wish it made me feel more whole, but eh, it’s just a guitar.
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

That’s correct.
Lollar special T, FB combo.
The roasty maple is really nice, I gotta say.

I finally got my best Telecaster together, now it's a Nashville Telecaster, with Kinmans on there, seven way switching. This guitar has been worked on! But it's complete now.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

It’s finally finished. Who knew belly cuts & wide range humbuckers would turn the best guitars ever into something even better
Oh, and it kinda looks ok.

I've been patiently waiting since December (ok...not exactly "patiently") for Great Lakes Custom Colour to finish my custom red paisley body. I have all the other parts on hand, and I'm getting antsy to put this thing together. Just a few more weeks.

Re: Forgot how much I love Teles, AKA Tele Appreciation Thread
Never thought my favourite Tele would end up being a) owned by a bassist and b) made in Mexico, but both these things are true! Best playing and sounding Tele I've ever tried overall, and believe me it has had some stiff competition (I figured nothing would beat a humbucking Thinline, but the neck feel on this edges it out). Trying to work out it's exact spec here if you fancy pitching in (call it Favour For A Friend).

Normally I'd disagree with such a bold statement but yeah even for a Tele that's a serious amount of bite. Very tasty.
