The Superstrat Thread!
Okay, I know there isn't a whole lot of love around here for "Superstrats." And no, I haven't gone to the dark side and started building Ibanez RG-inspired axes. But I do have a project that I am really excited about doing and though it is actually quite far from a Superstrat, I still find myself thinking about Superstrats in my planning. Plus, I do kind of own a Superstrat-style guitar in my Moog Guitar.
So, I know there are at least a handful of folks here who have a Superstrat (or two). And maybe you don't talk about it much, or maybe you do. And maybe you hate it, but maybe you love it. Post 'em!
Also, any Superstrat hardware/styles/abominations are welcome. Though I'd like to see more appreciation here than Lil' Barfy's, I'd also like for this thread not to die within the first 24 hours.

I don't own one at the moment (I used to!) but I actually really want this guitar
It's just that whenever I have money for a new piece of gear I feel a lot better spending it on a gibson or a fender... or a nice amp... like my matamp (mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm matamp)

Re: The Superstrat Thread!
One of the greatest superstrats I've ever picked up-this one was my main trem guitar for years until I picked up a Hamer Phantom (hmmmm, an offset) from Dave's 5 years ago. This one was owned by Fernando Von Arb of Krokus, which doesn't matter to me at all, but his name is on the headstock and this guitar was in a few videos from the 80s (that I admittedly never saw back then-wasn't my type of music). For the record, I HATE Floyds...!!

I don't own one but I like the look of Ibanez shredder axes like the Roadstar:
Thurston Moore used to play Roadstars back in the 80's...
Nice headstock design btw.

I prefer the fender superstrat. It's a lot like a strat, but does away with the useless pickup, and has a trem that works, and a slightly more bassy sound. I made a sort of replica/stripped down version a while back:
They also have a shortscale version, but the pickups are more tradiitonal.

You know that Jesus killed a kitten every time one of these was built, Paul?

Then appreciating them must be like giving those kittens one of their nine lives in Heaven back huh?

Re: The Superstrat Thread!
This confused the shit out of me. My first thought was, "He must have high-lighted the wrong links from photobucket or something." After about 15 seconds it hit me. ha.aen wrote:I prefer the fender superstrat. I finally finish building a guitar, go to play it, and then remember, "oh yeah, that's right. I suck at playing... Why did I build another guitar again?"

No, it's more like doing unspeakable things to defile their tortured kitten corpses. For pleasure. And making children watch.stereordinary wrote:Then appreciating them must be like giving those kittens one of their nine lives in Heaven back huh?
