That looks like the kind of guitar that would give Lou Reed an orgasm. :-*

I just swapped the pickups on mine again: SD Hot Rails-SD Vintage Staggered Strat (left-hand stagger, regular wrap)-SD Vintage Staggered Strat (Left-hand stagger, regular wrap).

I was just thinking, considering the similarities, is there a reason why Fender didn't replace the Strat single coils with Jaguar pickups after 1962 considering the RF shielding?

My 57 reissue. The body is a 98 I believe neck is a 2011. I had a broken truss rod in the original and replaced it with a different neck. I’ve owned it since about 2004. It has been my main guitar since then. There has been many pickup swaps in it depending on my mood. I have lace hot golds in it right now but I’m thinking of changing them out. Not sure to what yet though. I have a Callahan Trem block and whammy bar after breaking the original bar off inside of it.

Can anyone help age this guitar?

Headstock looks 90s, but G00... serial says late 80s.

Is that what it is? I put my Jazzmaster in it because it was a bit large for the Strat ... great case!

My strat is going to be fretless soon. I'm not pulling the frets but replace the neck, though. I got an unfinished neck from gfs factory clearout. It needs a lot of sanding and a finish but that's not a big deal. Looking forward to make akward cat noises with awful intonation soon.

It's a Squier Japan version of a 62 Strat - the pickups are Japanese, SQ5, not the US pickups used by the top end Fender Japan models, but I really like them a lot. Also the finish is polyester, but pretty thin and nicely worn in. It plays SO well, and sounds great after I got rid of the DiMarzio pickup in the bridge and put in an old Greco pickup from the same factory.

I think I'm done with 80s Fender Japan now - this JV Squier Strat, my SQ Squier Tele Custom and an A serial Jazzmaster. All three outstanding.

^ That's a real beauty, Matthew. And I know what you mean about those early 80s Japanese poly finishes. I just picked up a 1980 Greco Super Real EG500 (Les Paul) and the poly (at least I'm pretty sure it's poly - some did have nitro) finish is way thinner than the nitro finish I've seen used on some of the higher-end models.
