That Custom Classic 60s one in sonic blue with the mint green pickguard...I saw that in a shop and I thought it was one of the most beautiful guitars I'd ever seen. My friend that was with me decided to go with a Blizzard Pearl American Standard Strat and it certainly didn't sound or feel £600 than a MIM I'd played...hmm. Also, he's having loads of action, tuning and intonation issues with it.

Not a Fender - Blade R4 from the lawsuit era (Fender headstock), but IMO looking very good.

I've been through a hoard of guitars in the last few years but have sold them all (damn i need more work) and am down to just one strat and a JM build in progress.
Yesterday I rewired my strat with the 7 sound mod which means i can get the mustang sound i miss from a full scale. I've got a SD Antiquity II mustang set in the bridge and neck - sounds awesome to me and is easy to set up and play. I was a strat hater for many years, maybe i've suddenly i've got old and boring... also I'm playing a lot of afrobeat/soukous influenced stuff for the last few years and nothing hits this sound like a strat imho.

It's just a classic player 60s in sonic blue so won't post a pic as it looks pretty stock except the uncovered mustang pickups, but I have a major desire to swap out the body for an Allparts thinline strat body finished in thin Burgundy mist nitro and maybe add a lipstick in the middle position, that would be picture worthy...

I bought this: http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... 14&t=32289" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and I bought this for $75... it's an '83 Fender Japan JV Squier body, it's a nice piece of light Ash! I will leave the lady-thing for now.

The only thing is that I don't know which part to modify... make the neck 3-bolt or make the body 4-bolt? ugh...

Man, the Paisley Strats are lovely. My girlfriend has always regretted not snagging one when they got re-issued about 2004, she loved the look but couldn't afford it at the time. if anyone finds out if they're around anywhere let me know!
Don't know if it's a general thing, but my Paisley one (it's from something like 1988- not too sure though) is much heavier than the recent reissues that I've tried. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing (I'll ask my back in a few years time!), but it may be worth bearing in mind if your girlfriend is not of the scrum-half/ heavyweight boxer physique!

hah she certainly isn't, nope! and I'm sure the 2004 (i think?) reissues will be much, much cheaper so its win-win!
edit: just from a quick google search it appears there was a limited run in 2008 as well! Its a shame they don't ship over here really

nice!

but that isn't a JV body, but an SQ one like mine (the ones i posted some pages above). JV's were the 50's/60's repros, but the 3-bolts were all SQ's, which were the 70's repros. still, fantastic guitars.

the aztec lady reminds me kinda the cheech and chong van. hell yeah!!! :D

Ahhh ok, thanks! I just thought they were all called JVs... this one has the deeper '50s contours but 3-bolt. It's a cool body.

I used to dislike them quite a lot, then a few years ago I came across the one that I ended up buying 2 days later:

Now I want another one, only with a rosewood board and small headstock.

I've been obsessed with Conrad Oberg's strat recently.
