Play it every day. When the white starts to wear through, that blue is going to look awesome!

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
I stumbled upon another Japanese '67 RI neck the other day. Never installed, uncut nut, never used.stilwel wrote:My new-to-me Strat.

It works.
My inca silver road worn is changing just as soon as I can get a dinged fret replaced and the nut cut.
This is the same neck that I have on my #1 black RW strat (pictured below).
Big headstock, transition logo, 40mm Nut width, 7.25" vintage radius, soft-C shape neck profile and tiny vintage frets.
Headstock comparison:
MIJ is from '86.
CIJ is from '98.

Here's my Philip Kubicki koa strat. If my interpretation of the serial number on the neck plate is correct it's a 1990. All original as far as I know. It has an ebony board, and is probably the most "hi fi" guitar I've ever played.

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
I just picked up a back up strat- MIM FSR HHS job in silver with a gold scratch plate and matching headstock. Apart from a lot of initialisms it's garish and awesome. Stuck a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and it's crazy good. Needs some replacement neck and bridge pickups, does anyone have any experience with strat sized rail humbuckers? I've never had any before and the thought of a monster HHH Strat is very exciting.
Pictures later.

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
I recently bought a 50's classic vibe in Fiesta Red for a really good price.
Plus : Finish, color, weight
Cons : Pickup sound are "meh" and the neck is too thin. Tuners wont last long.
So, I dont really bond to it. I know many people rave about the Classic Vibe series, but when I pick my other Fender guitars (american and CS but also Squier JMJM), they all sound and play better. It's just a tease for a Strat, but now I am gasing for something better (american re-issue or CS). Do somebody have the same experience with the cv Strats?

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
i had that same model and i remember it being pretty good. It seemed like a step up from the MIM standards that i was used to, but over time i also found it a bit meh so i moved on. Pickups were nice to my ears (again seemed like an improvement over the MIM standard pups).
It's true that the colour is a real standout. Looks wise, it's 10/10 although the neck was a bit too glossy for my liking.

I should really change out the tuners on mine. I love how it sounds but shitty 90s MIM trapezoids just don't cut it

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
I have been absolutely loving my Strat lately. I really made it into a fantastic instrument. Still tweaking, of course, but it really sounds and plays wonderfully. Nearly as good as my Tele.
I still don't like how Strats look on me, nor do I love the look of mine (looks like a 60s Strat, white, mint guard, rosewood fretboard, unfinished small headstock).
No pictures, but I'll see what I can come up with eventually.

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
So because I always like Surf Green and I have a FSR Surf Green Princeton Reverb, I decided to make a change and got a mint Classic Vibe 50's Stratocaster in Surf Green (and sold my Fiesta Red). Now, I understand the "vibe" a little bit better. The Surf green sounds better then the Fiesta Red I used to own. It's heavier, but the sound is more articulate; it have more character. Tuners are still not very good...Arthon wrote: I recently bought a 50's classic vibe in Fiesta Red for a really good price.
