edwards lp's, anyone have one or had one?
I got offered this thing for my lp special, not sure if it's a good offer or not, so I wanted you guys to educate me
it looks super nice, bound neck, bound body, nitro finish tobacco burst
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

I'm assuming your special is not vintage... not a historic / reissue either... what year is it?
I recall seeing edwards LPs going in the 800ish range on the LA craigslist.
In my mind, it would come down to three factors based on my assumptions above:
1) Do you prefer spanking the plank or are you looking for a traditional carved top les paul?
2) P-90s or 'buckers?
3) Aesthetic appeal
I wouldn't worry for a moment regarding fit/finish/build quality... An Edwards LP is going to be top notch.
Assuming you've got a "run of the mill" and recent production LP special (not vintage/reissue), I wouldn't nickle and dime too much over value. Probably at worst a wash and at best a deal in your favor in terms of value.
Good luck. Keep us posted.

Mine is a 2000 les paul special with p100's in it, it's a plank but quite a lovely plank, thing is I really just want to sell the thing. But then this guy stepped up and offered me this guitar, I am not sure, it's a pretty nice looking guitar and the bound neck thing always gets me. I just love bound necks.
I have priced them out to anywhere from $650 to $900 depending on the model and what pickups are in it, most people change the pups almost right away it seems.
i am up in the air on it.

Are the zebras stock? I would think they'd be either black coils or nickel covered if it were stock... maybe the pup swap was already done?
So it's really a question of selling the plank or changing course and going with a trade? That, I cannot help you with my friend You'll have to decide what's best. Edwards LPs are not particulary common, though not rare either. Down the road you could flip it and in all likelyhood come out about even or even on top a bit. But if you need to sell it because you need extra cash now or just have too much gear that doesn't get used then you'll have to do what's best for you. You'll surely come across another good deal on some sort of LP in the future the next time GAS strikes...

Edwards is ESP's Japanese brand. Edwards Les Pauls are a Japanese made ESP Eclipses. I have no first hand experiance but I have heard really good things about them. They sell for $800 to over a $1000 new.

I think they are awesome. I'd do it, but I thought you were trying to get bass gear?

yeah, the pup change has already been done on this machine, but for me it would wind up being a p90 guitar, I am into the zebra burst pups but the p90's are the best thing ever.
I must consult the oracle.
