looks like the neck might've been on a four hole body at one point,on the body i can only see one extra hole, that might have been the paint stick they used in the 70's to hang them on the trees  ???.

wow!  What a score!  I was following them for a friend and nothing ran under $2k and the ones close to that number were whupped or had loads of changed parts.  Congrats!

The wood on that neck is stunning.
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Yes, it's rather a prominent lip. In the photo below, there are 2 mysterious holes in the neck and body that dont go all the way through. I don't know the idea behind it all.

Hey, I have a question:  I understand that the bass-side of a Thinline is hollow and not the treble-side.  To what extent is the bass side hollow at all?  I mean, is there a diagram somewhere that shows how large the hollow cavity is and the shape of it and averything?

Speaking of new toys/ '72 Thinlines - here's my latest toy, a Matsumoku-made Vorg by Pearl Thinline-copy from 1977 which I bought recently on eBay for a mere EUR 250,00...

As you can see the guitar features a beautiful transparent (butterscotch) blonde finish which looks completely different than the finishes of Fender's (old & current) 'Thinlines', and not only is this guitar extremely light, it's also hands-down the best-playing guitar I currently own...
