While I sometimes find it hard to let guitars go, I'm apparently pretty good at not missing them much once they're gone. I've had a few nice vintage Fenders that I wished I'd kept longer for their value increase, but the ones I've kept I really like for how they play and fit my needs, and I have them because I sent the "nicer" ones on.

With that said, there are a few that I've gotten rid of that I sometimes do miss:

The DSG bodied Coromaster (parted out by the person I sold it to):

Also, a '67 Yamaha SG2 and a BilT El Hombre that I don't have photos of.

My ‘72 Musicmaster, bought from a guy on ilovefuzz. Couod throw a party in the neck pocket but it sounded amazing and had so much character. Sold it to recoup some of the cost of my Marr Jag, but should’ve kept it. Wrote a lot of songs on it. It came up for sale a couple years back but I didn’t have the money.
The ‘65 refin Jag I got from Johnny. My living situation was weird and I wasn’t comfortable keeping it in the house, and I needed money. I LOVE my AV65 but even in the 2 yearsish since I sold it, I know that was probably my last chance at owning a real vintage Jag whilst I’m still relatively young.
That’s it- I’ve rebought a few things I sold, and my Rexter sparkle Jag is in the hands of a friend who will give me first refusal if I sell it, and I can borrow it whenever.

Anyone ever see my old Jaguar? It was an AVRI body in I think Dakota red and it had a blocks and binding neck with a white headstock. Sold it in 2008ish in the UK and I don’t want it back, I just haven’t any photos and it was quite a unique look.

My whole life is basically a series of FOMO pining for things I don’t really need, but am obsessed with getting coupled with regretful decisions. The guitar ones off the top of my head

- Not buying a Travis Bean for like $600 while visiting my parents in TN in like 2010. I knew nothing about guitars and thought it looked insane and sounded cool but $600 might as well have been 600,000 back then, for me anyway. I ended up getting a 12 string Danoblaster that was dogshit but also ended up being amazing because I traded it to the guy who, back then, was my best friend , for his Fiesta Jag-Stang.

- Losing that Jag-Stang to the pawn shop due to some heavy substance abuse issues, along with my full pedalboard that had like, at least $1,200 of liquid value on it, minimum.

- Sleeping on a red Yamaha SG2 on GC Used for 5 days that was listed at less than $600 trying to decide between getting it or a Peavey T-60. Somebody else got it before me. Totally hate myself!

- A white Peavey T-60 at the pawn shop I lost my stuff to (this example is years before that, though) for like ~$200

- A Competition Burgundy neck on Musicgoround for like $200

- Selling my first Fender Model T and Emperor 4x12 for like the same amount of money I paid for it (substance issues)

- Selling my red knob Model T for amazing money but now I don’t have it or really anything to show for that money so, ya know, hate myself!

- The worst example though is selling my 66 Jaguar for like $3,000, a price which took for fucking ever to find a buyer to agree to go that high, like I had it listed for close to a year on a million different sites and I was able to sell it only because the buyer had insurance for his that had been stolen. I have right of first refusal, at least he agreed tot that, but who tf knows if he even remembers that. I’m hoping he’ll leave it to me in his will, but I know that’s stupid. Can’t find one for less than $5k to save my life these days

- Also, not buying my dream guitar 5/6 times over when it was hard to sell them for more than a couple thousand bucks a few years back. I saw two different LPB CBS style Jaguars sell for less than $4,000. Again, might as well have been $4,000,000 to me at the time.

Oh also, that large blue flake Bilt Relevator LS with the Lollar WRHBs and block inlays for like $2,000 or whatever it went down to before someone smarter than me snatched it up real quick

I have a group therapy WhatsApp chat with Johnny for this exact affliction. Maybe we should setup Gearaholics Anonymous.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

It really sucks tbh. From the time I got my first Jaguar, it’s never really excited me the same way. I used to get this indescribable feeling when I saw a Jaguar or Jazzmaster… looked at musicians friend catalogs constantly… it’s harder and harder to find fulfillment in things and that’s scary for me. Hopefully I can keep it together at least until GTAVI comes out

Got a super nice deal on this circa 1968 Guyatone LG-350t "Sharp 5" a couple years ago. Paid like $750 from a Japanese broker with shipping and all, i just couldnt pass it up.

But alas, it had (still to this day) the thinnest, skinniest neck ive ever felt on a guitar, and a very flat fretboard radius to boot. Kind of a shreddy mosrite vibe which ive since learned is not really my thing. It was quite jarring on first feel. I tried to get over it, but i just couldnt get into it and had a bit of buyers remorse as well.. So i sold it for a pretty nice profit pretty quickly and moved on to the next mini-obsession. Probably didnt even have it 2 full weeks

Fast forward to now, and i kick myself for not trying harder to like it. I didnt even bother to setup the vibrato. It was blocked off as a hardtail and i just left it because i was convinced i hated the neck. Wish i could play another one now to see if my opinion would be different.

Among others, I dearly miss my old '67 Jazzmaster. I sold it here on the forum years ago. Besides being worth at least double now, it was a really good guitar...and rare!

I also sold some really rare and cool Boss pedals when I sold off my collection. I had some really rare ones...like two NOS SG-1s with their boxes that I had miraculously acquired from a liquidation of a music shop that had been closed for 30 years.
