Impossible NGD: 1962/63 Hagström Batman red glitter beater
Well last week I was going thru my local ads at around 3am (no shit) since I was insomniac. Happens rarely but happens.
I have been lurking for an old Hagström HIIN for some years now and always missed out or they wouldn't ship.
Now there was another Hag listed at 3am, a sparkly one with blurry pics. I started doing detective work and wrote to him that I'd buy it for his (pretty damn low) price.
By morning he had answered that ok, we could do that.
It was his grandpa's guitar, and he was also selling a on old (non glitter) EKO.
Today this amazing beater arrived.:
So it's one of 225 made "Batman" model Ä or something. Made in 1962 or 1963. They seem to be pretty damn rare and valuable/sought after. (Can't find out what's realistic...)
Missing the original bridge and some of the wiring might be a bit faulty - still trying to figure it out.
But I CAN'T STOP GLARING AT IT IT'S SO HOT!!!
Pat's done it AGAIN

Damn dude, that’s really cool.
Even if it doesn’t get played, and ends up going on a revolving pedestal in an all (Plexi)glassed frame, that thing is nice from all sides.
Insomnia can be good sometimes.

Sweet! The closest thing to the old Hagstrom bridges, or at least, the version I'm familiar with is a GFS. For that one, you'll want to look for an original, though. Some old Guild and Harmony electrics used Hagstrom bridges.

Envy...love the ‘Mermaids Purse’ headstock.
If it were mine I’d throw a bit of money at it and get it 100% back to its considerable pomp.
I know a guy with a single cut Hagstrom similar to that and it’s surprisingly cool sounding and playing.

I had a couple of those Futurama branded Hagstroms, the ones with moulded plastic tops, and they sounded fucking brilliant. Guitarists love to go on about tonewood and all that, but it was finest plywood covered in plastic and had a really nice, woody tone, almost a bit Gretschy, somehow.
