NGD: TV Yellow Les Paul Special
Hi All
Thought I'd share what seems to be one of my best NGDs ever, even though it's a non-offset Gibson...
It's a Les Paul Special from the new(ish) Gibson Original Collection. I traded in a load of stuff against it, including my only other Gibson, a Les Paul Tribute that was just too blinkin' heavy, so it almost feels like a free guitar (even though it really wasn't!).
The fat 50s neck is just lovely - it's not as deep as my Baja Tele, but rounder (less of a U), and so comfortable. It sounds fantastic - has the clarity my old LP lacked, and sustains for ages.
The intonation on the uncompensated stop tail is really very close, much better than I expected. Chords high up the neck sound good.
And it's really light!

That's awesome! I'm a sucker for TV Yellow Gibsons. That weight is unreal too. Congrats!

I used to have one of those. In sunburst. I wish I still had it.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

That's a gorgeous guitar. I jonesed one of these a few years back, but nothing came up and pursued something else. It's definitely my favorite les paul finish/configuration. Looks like a joy to play too. Happy NGD!

Definitely one of my favorite looking guitars of all time, too! And the sound is really something with P90s through a wound-up tweed amp. If you have the means, folks, I highly recommend it!

Yours looks nice. I had a 90’s LP Special with those nasty P100 stacked humbuckers. It was a complete turd.

Very-very pretty. I wonder how the comparable Epiphones stack up. They look identical. (I couldn't justify the price tag on the Gibson, but the Epi... well, maybe.)

I have a trade pending (waiting for lockdown to loosen a bit) on a JM for this exact model also. The combination of P90s+wraptail, light weight and 50s neck profile has me completely sold on it. Can't wait!

I'm really torn between one of these and the equivalent SG. Which one should I get?

Pelham Blue or TV Yellow? It is a difficult choice!
