Just realized that this is not a vintage guitar.

Just got this guitar today. So far, it kills. Plays just as good, maybe better than my old SG which was a phenomenal guitar. I only had opportunity to play around for 15 minutes with it....

Re: Incoming SG Special NGD!
Sorry I haven’t followed up yet. Will get some pics up soon. I’ve just been very busy playing. Visually, this is one of my favorite guitars I’ve owned. Playability is much different than the fenders I’ve been used to. Hammer ons are so much clearer. Just a fast neck on this thing. After spending some time with it, I do find that the tuning stability is not as good as my JM. Because of that, my initial plans of installing one of the vibrolas will be on hold. Any tips on improving the tuning with these wrap around bridges?
Despite that, still loving this guitar.

I mean, there is nothing that can be awry with a single, fixed saddle bridge, you know? There's nothing that moves there. So I'll imagine that the tuning issues would be at the nut. If you haven't had that looked at, then I'd get it to a technician. Gibson just has a machine do it these days- the PLEK. It only does so good of a job.
That being said, your bridge probably isn't connected to your bridge posts. You are a Gibson man now. You gotta always take into account the slop. You will want to get some locking posts and lock that bridge down.
Something like this, if you want something cheap. It would probably work fine.
Spend a little more, get a little more. Maybe consider a better bridge anyway.

So, if I’m looking at this right, those nuts just get tightened to hold the bridge better?Larry Mal wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 2:42 pmI mean, there is nothing that can be awry with a single, fixed saddle bridge, you know? Correct. There is almost certainly a little slop with your bridge, it's possible that it moves back and forth just a little bit, to where you would not even notice it.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 6:16 pm

No reason for it not to be locked in place.

And there's no reason you can't have white buttons with locking tuners:

That's Hipshot, but there are others.

Not 100% sure if these fit the Kluson Revolution tuners that I like so much:

But I know these do, it seems they only have the butterbean tuners in black, though.

Re: Incoming SG Special NGD!
I would get the guitar setup and the nut looked at before throwing parts at the guitar. More than likely that your slots are binding, and if you like the look of the guitar, this is “non invasive” from that perspective.
Otherwise, really stoked to hear you’re enjoying! Can’t wait for the full review. Loved the way these things sounded clean through a SF Fender, can only imagine you’re loving it too!

Yeah, get that nut looked at first. But by all means get something to lock the bridge down.

Oh definitely. Now that I know what I’m looking at I can see how this bridge can move. There is plenty of space for it to shift.Larry Mal wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 6:44 pmCorrect.
