Re: Show Your Acoustics!
I like 1 5/8" necks or just around them.... but the thing with Gibson/Epiphone necks of the 60s it is not only the nut width, it is the shape of the neck.
Some of those mid to (mid)late 60s necks have a really strong D shape neck and after a few minutes the thinner nut width is forgotten.
I mainly like the Gibson/Epiphone acoustics of the 60s for the harmonic content and the adjustable ceramic saddles that give a really nice snap to the note (i.e stones sound)

relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Re: Show Your Acoustics!
Been having a bit of a bash on the acoustics lately
The resonator is the " round the house and on the porch" player, it can make a righteous, raucous noise when needed, but it is mainly used for fingerpicking. Been playing some chord/melody style jazz songs on it lately.
A warped neck means cowboy chords and perhaps it will be just be a slide guitar one day
The cheapest all wood Martin and only OM guitar in town at the time I bought it. Light as a feather and has a small, electric guitar style neck. Satin finish. A step up on the resonator in feel and sound.
Made for fingerpicking, the rosewood smells wonderful.
A lesson I 've learnt in life, buy the best you can afford.
Quality pays for itself.

Re: Show Your Acoustics!
Nice- is your Collings OM long scale? I would still like a Guild F30 or something to fill that slot.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: Show Your Acoustics!
My all time favorite : maker, shape, materials. Gibson J-180 from Bozeman circa 1993, maple back and sides, obligatory spruce top, a little blingy but I bought it for the tone. My first real acoustic was a 60’s hummingbird, mahogany back and sides, which now lives with my daughter. Great guitar , one of the ones with songs hidden inside but the mahogany has a vanilla? quality while not unappealing doesn’t keep up with vocal nuances. I had a Larivee in Brazilian , outstanding guitar but too grand if there could be such a thing, more suitable to the opera house than the coffee house. Then I played a 50’s Gibson J-185 at Mandolin Brothers . There it was, the maple articulates and enhances the ordinary human vocal range like no other wood I’ve found. Of course it was $5000 and I was a broke parent but I always new it was the right combination for a man ( or woman)and his guitar. I did sound for years at a famous listening room and got into interesting discussions about tonewoods and playing with traveling pros , the discussion about balance and power led to maple , of course the Martin players stuck up for them ,rightfully so ,but the real singers loved the maple Gibson’s. My local guitar store was a high end acoustic shop and got this right from the factory, it’s a sample of a model J-185 special order of 25 shipped to Germany. I played it once and knew immediately it was the one, traded some good things included the Larivee to get it. The Everly Brothers thing is neither a plus or a minus, it has the tone . Plus I could sell it to some guitar slinger in Nashville for a pretty penny if I ever became destitute, which in today’s world is a possibility .

That's beautiful. I'm a big Everly Brothers fan, though. Don Everly is a hell of a guitar player, also.

Thanks, I’m a Everly Brothers fan but not a tribute guitar fan, if you know what I mean.

Re: Show Your Acoustics!
My initial thoughts were, it should have a pickguard that matches the headstock...
...but then I thought that was a bit too bling...
...but then I realised it had fucking star inlays...
...none more bling...
...and why has everybody got so many cool keyboards?
... all I've got is a melodica that's full of spit, probably.
I'm on the Mezcal tonight, innit.
Hasta luego.

Yeah, I was being drunk. You gave me a choice of not giving a fuck or "what". I chose the latter.
