incoming ngd - epiphone sheraton
an early christmas for the sister... meaning i get to play it for another month or so! it was priced around $350 and just had something special going on - i’m not well versed on these but initial browsing would suggest late 80s/early 90s mik? also haven’t been able to find a picture of one in this same red.
whatever it is, it plays absolutely beautifully, sounds lovely, and the binding work is gorgeously done. seems roughly identical to brian aubert’s as well and the sis is a huge silversun fan so i have a feeling it’ll go over well.

Looks good, congrats. Those Epiphone semi-hollows are great guitars consider the prices you can find them for.

I remember it took a while to get over how beautifully trimmed-out these are, with the inlays and binding work. I'd never owned a guitar as nicely appointed! It almost made me uncomfortable, hahaha
Every once in a while, I still get knocked back looking at mine. That (and the way it plays) is the reason I've not "upgraded" to a legit 335. Short of the tactile nitro feeling (which I love) you get with a 335... they really pale in comparison.

ha! yes, i feel that - it’s so nicely done-up i’m scared to put a single mark on it(which really has never been something i’ve felt about one of my guitars).
nitro would be nice, oh well! i’ve seen poly age just as nicely, just takes a little longer i suppose!

Re: incoming ngd - epiphone sheraton
Sheratons are really great! Yep - looks like a late '80s, early 90's Samick. I don't think I've seen a red one from this era. Mostly you see the brown burst and black ones. Worked with a guy a long time ago who had a black one that was stunning. Felt and sounded every bit as nice as a real 335.
I have an '03 MIK in blonde that has such a wonderful sound and playability. I've had some Dots but this one just slays them all. Immediately apparent this one was special....and I got it for sub $300! Had fun upgrading it a bit too. No regrets spending a little one it considering how inexpensive it was. Its now sporting a Faber bridge, Gotoh lightweight aluminum stop, bone nut and new wiring harness and Duncan Antiquity HBs. Those pickups are just stunning. I've never had anything PAF before but now I get it. Oh, and Grove milk bottle tuners to top it off and complete the all nickel hardware conversion.
Even before the bridge swap the unplugged resonance was just fine. It was only like a 10% difference after the expensive bridge. If anything it was more to do with tuning stability and dialing in my own setup. I did a fret level and dress on it after gathering up the courage and it made it even better. Its been a main guitar for me this past year. Debating trying a Bigsby on mine but I'm not sure I want to drill the holes for it. (Can't stand the VIbramate, so its all of nothing for me!) Afraid I might regret it, but I do like a Bigsby on my Dot.
Can't quite figure out why mine is so loud and has such nice tone. Just the right combination of materials and build. The one thing that I did notice is that the neck angle is a little greater compared to my Dots. Its also just slightly heavier. Its not a heavy guitar at all. It breathes and really moves but its not as light as the Dots I have.

Insane, I'd never seen another red one before I picked this hottie up, and now it turns out there's another one right here on the OSG!
According to the serial number it was made in September 1989
It's heavy but wow oh so resonant and loud!!!
i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

Re: incoming ngd - epiphone sheraton
Those Sheratons look great in red!
I really like Sheratons but I just can't get on with them - I've had two - a natural 80's one and a later Korean sunburst one (early 2000's IIRC) and couldn't bond with them at all.
When I got my first one in 1992 (the natural one) I found that for some reason I couldn't avoid pushing the bottom string off the edge of the fretboard so I ended up swapping it (for a Paisley Strat, which I still have).
I got the second one a couple of years back and found that I had the exact same problem with the bottom string. Obviously my technique and the Sheraton can't co-exist. This one got swapped for a DeArmond Starfire Special.
Anyway, I can still admire them! Congrtulations, lovely guitar
