Re: NAGD
Thanks for the input on the live settings, guys. I do agree that amplified acoustics don't sound like pure acoustic guitars, but I also don't think they sound like electric guitars. A few acoustic performers I know use pedals or pre-amps to emulate a more natural acoustic sound, and although it still sounds pretty fake, in the context of a live performance if you perform well no one really cares much about your tone, at least from my perspective. I am now curious about how my J-45 might sound sans electronics, but I think I ought not go down that rabbit hole since I'm probably going to always want electronics in it for ease of live performances.

Re: NAGD
That just reminded me of an overheard exchange at a music store here in town:
"I heard you guys on KZUM last night. Great show. What kind of pickup do you use on your acoustic?" asked one guy.
"It's called a microphone." said the other guy.

Re: NAGD
Really nice acoustic congratulations, that looks like a guitar to hang onto and enjoy for years.
Totally agree on the piezo pickups which stink of 1980's perched on a stool (cutaway) acoustic rawk intros of the sort you could actually see on the vinyl if you tilted it.

I am not a sunburst guy but on the j-45 it's what you need. Great looking guitar.
Mine (my only acoustic) is a 1998 which I bought in 1998. Yesterday, after 20 years, it surprised me. It's starting to get that dry, even sound. Coincidentally, I just had accidentally left it out, top down on the bed, in the sun. The narrator of the fantasy novel "The Name Of The Wind" (whom I suspect is unreliable) said that he likes to leave his lute out in the sun. When I read it I was thinking, is this guy for real? I'd never do that. Now I wonder if I learned something from a damn fantasy novel. (which is unfair -- my entire outlook on life is informed by occult horror)
What's funny is how good it sounds when someone plays it and I'm across from them listening to it; I have no idea how I sound playing it, really, to a listener. I suppose I could put an omni across the room.

Hey larry (or anyone else who has done this) did you find a good way to get the sticker residue out of the inside of the guitar after removing the pickup?

Re: NAGD
That seems like the best option. I'll probably stress out about it for 2 or 3 days then completely forget. Did you do anything about the end pin hole?
