NGD: 1967 Fender Coronado XII
With the insane 20% off deals at Reverb for whatever-the-fuck holiday reason, I jumped on this beast!
You may remember my first purchase of a 6-string Coronado, which I have absolutely fallen in love with. I knew at that point that I wanted a 12-string version of the Coronado. I hadn't found many reviews of the 12-string, but I read reviews of the chrome-top pickup version of the Coronado, mostly which were poor because the pickups are underpowered. THAT, however, is exactly what you want for a 12-string, so I figured it would be perfect.
Here is a picture from the seller, it's pretty much exactly like my 6-string version:
I've only had a few minutes with the guitar, and I had to relocate the bridge because it got way off center in shipping, but the low power pickups sound better than I imagined. The long string length behind the bridge combined with the 12-strings and pickups sound like it has just a bit of chorus and reverb on it. Sparkly and delicate with a nice blend of string voice and that wall of sound that comes with non-magnetic pole pickups.
I'll be taking some pictures of guitars to sell soon, so I'll get some nice pictures of this up soon, too.
I also promised previously to do sound samples of the 6-string Coronado, but haven't gotten around to it. Now that I have more than one guitar to do, I promise to get around to it.

Looks almost new. Red to match the 6 string?

Hot damn. What a score!
Was it well played or is it in a case closet type state?

There's no signs of corrosion or significant fret wear. HOWEVER, there are signs on the bottom that it sat on one of those stupid rubber guitar stands for an extended period of time.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Tue Nov 27, 2018 8:52 am

It's the only blemish I can find on the entire guitar.
My guess it has mostly seen light home use and sat on a guitar stand for most of its life.

On an older thread, a forum member noted that raising the pickup screws on these made a lot of difference in the tone. I thought mine sounded fine with the screws flush, but it sounds much richer and louder with the screws raised.

I had a fender Coronado XII for more or less 6 months. Again, looks were beautiful but i was rather happy to sell it. it was just not sounding and playing right.
I sold it it and bought myself another fender electric XII , which sounds right and plays so much easier than the coronado XII version
