I Suddenly Think I Need A Les Paul. Talk Me Out Of It.

Gah. I've been watching old Pixies vids and Jeff Beck, and, well all those guys who play the Paul. Now I irrationally want one. I've been window shopping on Reverb and eBay. Tokai, Greco, Orville, Gibson...
I'm nuts, right? I mean, I've got a Hamer and a Tele-Gib, why get a Les Paul?
Just look at this goldtop:
But I've got these!

I've tried to like them many times. Each and every Les Paul I bought ended up getting sold after 6 months tops.
They're just not for me somehow...

Nope. Can't do it. Les Paul's are essential guitars to have. I've been missing my Yamaha SL650 something fierce since I got a terminal diagnosis on it and although I have a nice DC Special I've been playing out, it's not the same.
Go for it

Every guitar player should have a Les Paul and a Telecaster.

Let's put it this way: I have never heard someone say, "Talk me into buying this Goldtop..."

Well I did hear a band on Friday night and thought the guitar was sounding particularly nice, it was a gold top with p90's.
Just saying.....

Well I neither can talk you out of having one...
My very first electric guitar was an Epiphone Classic Ebony with Humbuckers and I do feel sorry for every day I leave it in the case under the couch! (Limited amount of wall hangers...) but my Les Paul Studio 60s Tribute Honey Burst with P90s definitely had earned her spot on the wall - even if I hardly play it right now...I did play the hell out of her in the past! ...it was my main guitar in my old band... even before ever owning an Offset!
Everyone should play/own a Les Paul!

Nope. One of these should scratch that itch. (inexpensively too)

I have two Agile Les Paul style guitars to scratch that itch. Well built and very affordable. The two I have are nicer than the Les Pauls I have tried at Guitar Center.

I've always wanted one. Almost bought a custom a few years ago but backed out. They're heavy..some are very pretty. The Pixies made me want one as well during this time.

I second the epiphone. I picked up a set neck gold top a few years ago off craigslist & it's a solid guitar. I find the quality control of Gibson to be very sketchy lately & the vintage ones are way too much $.

My old Greco almost convinced me I was a Les Paul person. Heck, now that I sold it, I'm remembering all the good stuff I liked about it! I hated lugging it around but it sounded amazing. I def couldn't have one as my only guitar, but I'm not counting one out in my future!
