couple of epiphones

showcasing my 2 most recent guitars.

Here's an epiphone casino that i have had for 6 months or so. honeymoon period obviously over and i can safely say i love this thing. for sure it's my favorite non fender guitar. Everything about it is great. sounds so nice acoustically, sounds great plugged in too. plays perfectly.... nice and light. super comfortable.

I slapped on a black pickguard to make it a little more unique and personal to me.



Here's the epiphone les paul i picked up in a trade recently. I'll just say i am surprised how much i like les pauls now. for YEARS i never thought anything of les pauls. i wasn't a fan. In the last year i acquired a gibson melody maker that i have since moved on from, but that sparked a real love for les paul guitars.

This epiphone is great. plays great and sounds very nice. Pickups are Hotch bridge and "57" neck pickup. i don't know really know anything about them, but they sound good to me after playing around with pole heights and pickup height.

thanks to the advise i got from you guys i put on a bigsby via vibramate. this has proven to be an excellent addition. very happy with the outcome.



All in all i am impressed with the feel and quality of these 2 epi's. they play and feel as good as any guitar i have owned.

LPs with Bigsbys have been some pretty hard GAS for me lately. Gorgeous!

That Casino really does look smart. Natural finish/black pickguard is a really underrated colour scheme on hollowbodies. Glad you went with the Vibramate on the Les Paul too!

That LP is beautiful. They just look so classy in tuxedo black. Unfortuanely I find them akward due to their body size & thickness, so I’ll never own one. However, I can appreciate them as a work of art. But only in black!

Nice pair! I love that Casino especially. Natural with black guard is top notch. If I get another ES style I'm leaning towards that. Your pics confirm my thinking. I second Parry's comments. I recently upgraded the setup + new nut, bridge and frequensator tailpiece on my Dot. It was sorta meh before but now I can't put it down. I play that guitar every day now! Epihone's can be really great with a little love. I also have an Epi LP from the late 90s that was my first proper guitar, it was always nice to play and sounded phenomenal after a pickup upgrade.

I have a casino couple and I really love it. the necks on the casinos are really comfortable. I added a bigsby to it because the trapeze bridge was leaving me with more than a few dead spots from a sustain standpoint. Not sure if you have encountered that same issue, but I am all over the fretboard and the change made all of the difference in the world.

epi LPs are solid beasts and a great value on the used market. I've had my Korean LP for going on 21 years. I still use it all of the time because it is an outright rock and roll machine. the Korean epis had ok pickups but were not meant to stand the test of time. the newer Epis are good to go right out of the box. No changes are needed unless you prefer particular pups or hardware.

all in all, good looking pair of epis you have going on. you can pretty much cover all of the bases with them.

Thanks all. To tell the truth I am also thinking of slapping a bigsby on the casino, but I'll wait for some bigsby sale or when I get more funds. Every picture I see of casinos with bigsbys shows a b7, but I am thinking of using a b6. Anyone know if this is a bad choice?

the b7 requires screws to the top of the body, so the b6 would be the best option. YNWA!
