Epiphone Wilshire Help!!

Post by oliver9419 » Sun Sep 16, 2018 11:41 am

Hey guys, could a couple of silly questions here from a total n00b.

Does anyone have any real experience with Epiphone's & Epiphone Cases?
This might be me going crazy (and i do have an OCD over stuff like this) but is the headstock on my guitar slanted and off centre? It just looks like it is to me. Is this common for Epiphone models?
Also and it looks a bit odd, the Epiphone website stated that the SG case is the correct case for the wilshire but the guitar doesn't sit entirely flat in the case and the right side comes up a little more than the left so it sits in the case on a slight angle. is this something that is common for cases? and is this something that could affect the neck if it's in at a slanted angle?

I've tried to capture the headstock position and the slanted case in the attached photos.
Yes i know this probably sounds crazy but oh well. any comments appreciated.

It could be a tiny tiny bit off, nothing out of the ordinary though, it is unlikely any head stock remains perfect.
Logic gates based on billiard-ball computer designs have also been made to operate using live soldier crabs of the species Mictyris guinotae in place of the billiard balls.

Wow, that’s a lot of post windings!

Kidding aside, the headstock does look slighlty slanted. As long as it doesn’t affect performance, and it shouldn’t, it will be fine...unless your ocd is telling you otherwise.

Performance doesn't seem affected, or at least not that i've noticed, it's keeping tune and it's intonated, the action is where I want it to be also. So far it is anyway, i guess it'll probably slip over time and need resetting up accordingly.
If it's something that's purely cosmetic then I can totally live with that.
Over the past few years, i've just developed some strange paranoia about guitars going wrong haha. It's hard to explain but being told everything is cool is good to know.
Thanks guys, much appreciated
;D :D :)

Looks like the neck might be twisted counter clockwise a little?

It looks like that because the guitar doesn't sit flat in the case, it sits at an angle so it makes the neck look twisted. i thought it at first too but the neck itself is fine at the moment

Yes... I have a wilshire, and there isn't a new case that fits them perfectly. SG case is the closest I have found, and it is a bit of a squeeze. I use an old t shirt to prop underneath the body so there isn't so much pressure on the neck in the case.

This ^^^

My 60s Olympic sits to one side in a modern SG case. Just pack it out with your pants and socks on tour and it'll be fine.

So just to be clear, the top "horn" is thicker than the lower one, right? That's what's causing it to sit weird in the case and look twisted?

So far as cases go - I have managed to house my Wilshires in some vintage croc cases that are teardrop shaped - not sure of the brand but I have a couple now - I bought them originally for a vox teardrop but they didn't fit - the Epiphone fits perfect - I found another at a local music store just a few months ago. Will try to do a picture for you when I get home this evening.
