WTF is this bullshit?

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

They were just pics from Google, not actually my guitars. I don't think mine stick up as high as the 2nd one, but as you can see even on that one (which is angled really high) that the arm is still not parallel to the guitar. But I think vale has found the main source of the problem.

Why is the bridge all the way down to the body?!? It should be looking like this:
That's a matter of setup preference, I like mine flush to the body as well.

someone asked exactly the same question at fretboard a month or so ago.

answer:

"That's the wrong arm for the block. That arm is designed for a block that has the hole perpendicular to the top of the guitar, but Fender's original design actual had the hole angled as yours is, so that the arm would swing close to the body when pointing away from the neck, so you could put it in a case without taking the arm off.

Unfortunately most people don't realise this, which includes a lot of shop staff, meaning the wrong arm often ends up with the wrong guitar, which is probably what's happened here. "

if it came new from a shop, explain the above and ask for a replacement. if you bought it used then it's a case of try to straighten it. if that doesn't get the desired result then replace with the right one for your trem.
Interesting to know! I didn't know that there was variation in the angle of the block hole.

It's quite obvious looking at the original photo that the issue is caused by the angle that the arm is coming out of the block and not by the arm actually being bent.
a total idiot jackass

Probably the wrong trem arm, as mentioned before. Just bend it? Or try you luck with a new arm.
