Another perspective of this, has anyone had a snooty person play your mislabelled guitar in which they were quite impressed & you then came transparent with what they were actually playing?

What if you simply don't like the logo but want to replace it?

Like, i hate the Waza logo on Boss pedals and always secretly wish to replace the pads with standard looking pads.. :squint:

I don't like the Waza logo either. I have been known to swap logos and make custom ones also. I don't feel like I am doing this to make the guitar something it isn't, but more to make it look the way I feel like it is supposed to look in my head. For example, the first headstocks I messed with were Blacktop Jazzmasters. I wanted the cool swirly logo, not the dumb plain font Jazzmaster one they put on it. (Same with the Squier HH Jazzmaster.) I like Jazzy's to have the swirl logo and when they don't like to make them have it. :) I have a bunch of Squiers and I like them a lot. I tend to go for the Indonesian Squier necks when I am not looking to spend more on an Allparts or Warmoth neck. Most of the time the sellers already took off the silk screened logo and I am not a fan of nude headstocks. Since it isn't a Squier or a Fender when I make a partscaster, the most honest thing to do is put a custom decal on that is your own... but I have seen that people shy away from buying a guitar with a custom logo on it. They would rather it have something familiar on it I guess.

I had a Squier Jag bass that was pretty nice. Played well, sounded OK. Only cost me $120. I sold it because I wasn't playing bass much anymore, but if I kept a Squier I would never sand off the decal and put a Fender one on. Seems to me a dumb thing to do for several reasons, not to mention a big waste of time and money.

I'm going to have it done on my J Mascis neck. Only one reason, really. I have a matching headstock on my Fender Jazzmaster. The J Mascis is a backup, though I enjoy it just as much, and I want them to sorta match. Just OCD, I guess.

All the info will still be present on the rear of the neck, so no one will be fooled by it. It'll just have matching decals and a painted headstock.

Don't CIJs and allparts offset parts come from the same factory? I think it's a distinction without a difference.
