Jangely Rhythm Guitar: Rickenbacker 330 or Coronado II?

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

Was the Guild you checked out an older one? I’ve heard the late 60s Starfires are super jangly, especially the ones with the Guild mini-hums
It was a... 1961 IIRC. The same as this one, but even brighter. I now own a SFIII with mini-hums, which jangles in its own right, but it's not a true jangle.

Another option is using a guitar with DeArmond pickups. One of the most jangl-y guitars I've played was an old Guild Starfire III with the white-topped DeArmonds. The Coronado also has DeArmonds, so...
I know! I'm so excited!

It was some recent reissue of that, not vintage.

If I could find one like in the video, I would have been tempted in that direction.

I look forward to hearing what you think of the Coronado. That picture is amazing!

I cannot think of a single good thing to say about the sound of a Rickenbacker. In any era or pickup variation. It's a shit guitar. My answer to the original question would have easily been a Jaguar.

So, what do you *really* think about RICs? I think you’re holding back a bit and that open and honest communication would help the group here.😄

I mean, this guy’s clearly played all of them, and his sample size is large enough to declare them “shit guitars” across the board! The authority has spoken! :w00t:

Well, we come here to share opinions about random things; why would this be different? No authority was claimed -- just that I think it is a shit guitar. Not sure why that would irk you. You can feel free to think they are the best guitars ever made if you like.

Just some light teasing - not disputing your opinion at all, you’re entitled to it! ;)
