Glitter Purple Squier Stratocaster Project

Post by HNB » Tue Jul 24, 2018 6:04 pm

Cheap Indonesian Squier Stratocaster was up and I grabbed it with the idea of putting a humbucker and tort on it. (I saw most of those were stock routed for H S H kind of like Mexican Strats.) I found a nice Stratosphere guard and grabbed a one meg pot and cream knob. I am just waiting on a rewound DiMarzio Super Distortion to arrive. Already swapped the pickguard out and I am liking it. :D

I spoke too soon. The pickup was in the mail today. Got it all together. It is pretty amazing. It never fails to astound me how nice a Squier can play. Straight neck, nice tremolo movement, good frets.... Crazy how nice these can be.

Oh by the way for anyone shopping Stratosphere tortoise. This one is their "brown" tort which is red. Their "red" tort is actually darker and brown looking. Go figure....

How many guitars do you have already? Do you sell guitars as well sometimes or just keep on building/ buying them?

I put a Jazzmaster together last year and thought that from the pics on their site. I ordered both pickguards and figured they'd be used eventually, but by doing that I never confirmed which was which!!!

I have a few up for sale, but lately more have been coming in than going out. Working on guitars helps with my anxiety. Being focused on projects helps me relax. :)

Only reason I knew ahead of time is a youtube video showed a guy talking about both color versions and they were the opposite of what you would normally think. :)

I do as well. I like the tuners on these. I am not a fan of those diamond shape tuners on some Squiers.

Also my birthday was this month so I got a couple inexpensive guitars to mod and a little nicer one. :D

I would love to see a family shot. There are so many unique and special guitars in your threads, seeing them all together must be awesome.
Working on guitars is a great way to fight anxiety, glad you found something that works for you! *thumbs up*

This one is truly beautiful, Chris. Yeah, it's amazing how well cheap guitars now a days can play. This one turned out great too. Was this a refin or a stocked Squier colour?

It could be split, but I have it on full blast all the time. :) I can turn the volume down to clean it up if I want though. I haven't ever really liked the sound of split humbuckers.
