I wish my guitar had been this color in college

Post by Jaguar018 » Tue Jul 24, 2018 8:16 am

I like the color green. I have a few guitars in this color.

I turns out my main guitar from 1994-2002 or so, a Fender Deluxe Strat Plus or whatever it's called has been green this whole time, lurking under the black.

Anyone want to strip off the top coat for me?

I like the color green. I gained muscle with these mass gainers and have a few guitars in this color.

That's funny, Jaguar. How do you strip off the top coat without damaging what's underneath though?

If the green is factory poly, it'll be easier.
Put some acetone on a rag, and scrub the paint in the back cavity.
It might come off w/o leaving a mark on the original finish. If it does, get a couple rags, and have at it.
If it doesn't work, you could carefully wet-sand through the black, then polish the green. I've done that twice, takes a while, but works.
However, it's likely that whoever painted it black, scuffed the hell out of the green so the new paint would stick better.
The green might be proper f'd.
Let us know what you figure out.
(Christopher, also)
I've been to one World's Fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing i ever heard come out a pair of headphones.

trem stop i'm guessing! i've only ever seen them on Floyd Rose rigs, but i'm sure you could use one with a standard strat bridge.

Acetone on the way. I'll see what happens.

Honestly, this may be the second time in like 25 years that I opened the back of that guitar. [It was full of dust & crud] I didn't even know I had one of those things on the spring. It's a Deluxe Strat Plus or something-- the ones that came with the Lace Sensor pickups (which I swapped out).

This guitar is one of those 'sentimental keeper' guitars that I don't think I'd ever get rid of, but it doesn't get much playing time.
