short-scale teles?

Post by Con-Tiki! » Fri Jun 22, 2018 12:07 pm

am i remembering this wrong?
weren't there some sort of conversion-necked Modern Player teles out a few years back?
If anyone remembers what they were called, or can tell me when they were out, thx.
(Christopher, also)
I've been to one World's Fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing i ever heard come out a pair of headphones.

This one is 24.75 scale and I seem to remember that it was a conversion neck, so you could still slap a regular 25.5 tele neck and it would work. I feel like I remember a thread on this somewhere here.

I was browsing warmoth recently and saw they had 24.75" short scale conversion necks for both Strats and Teles. as a player with shorter fingers I think it's a very intriguing idea.

Warmoth also makes 7/8 strats and teles (from all the way back when they supplied Valley Arts with their bodies) and I have two of those. You are supposed to pair them with their 24,75” scale 24 fret necks. But - lesser known - you can also put their 24” scale Mustang necks on them. Which I do. Perfect for those of us with smaller hands.

HOLD ON A MINUTE... Only Warmoth 24", or Fender's as well (I always assumed they were similar/compatible)? Because it's basically the only thing that prevented me from getting one of their bodies...

(I would like a smaller guitar for my girl, and my Mustang seems to fit her better than other guitars)

I don’t know if it’s combatible the other way, but you could always call them or email them.
My guess is that they’ll say something like, ” no, not offically, but ...”

Or come friday I could give you some measurements of one of my Warmoth Mustang necks and you could compare that to a Fender one. Just say the word.

According to Warmoth's website, there is that one mention, hidden on one page full of text that nobody reads:
Most 24" Mustang, Jaguar, and Jagstang necks will intonate
Sneaky bastards... ;D

Those are pretty standard for fender style bolt on necks. Everything from mini-strat to baritone necks have similar measurements. The key measurement is the actual scale length. Is the nut to bridge length (midway in saddle travel) exactly double the nut to 12th fret measurement?

Well, Gordon's question was if Fender's necks would fit on a Warmoth 7/8 body.
And as he himself later found out, Warmoth say so on their webpage ("Most 24" Mustang, Jaguar, and Jagstang necks will intonate").
So my thought was that if the measurements of the heel of his Fender Mustang neck were the same as the Warmoth neck (that obviously works and intonates), then Gordon would know if he could put his Fender neck on a Warmoth 7/8 Tele body.

One would assume that the scale length of a Fender Mustang is 24" as has been stated since 1964. ;)

There was recently some strange 24’ scale Tele- is that what you’re talking about? I got to play it and it was a bizzare experience. I wish it had been better, haha. It was poorly set up. I love the idea of a short scale tele- it would just rip!
