I like the matte look on a Rickenbacker.

I guess I'm considering matte as a finish as opposed to raw or natural wood. Either way I'd be curious to how much different the feel is compared to the gloss of mine. I bet it's not a bad thing at all.

I'm definitely gonna check it out. I think Rics are really interesting and a lot of my favorite guys played them, but those lacquered fretboards are something I could never get used to. At this point I'm so used to satin finished necks that I can't deal with anything with too much finish on it.

Ohhhh, the fretboard! I was looking at the back of the neck, and didn't even think of the fretboard, now it makes sense. The gloss fretboard is slightly strange to get used to, but it's not much different than a maple fretboard to me. The hardest thing about Rics that I found getting used to was the nut width, but it eventually came. Now my 620 is my main guitar.

Re: Satin Finish Rickenbacker?
People have always told me this. And I have big hands, so I didn't try them for a long time. Then one day I was in a store where a used mid-60s 12-string showed up. I LOVED it. It was so easy to play. So fun. So smooth.
